Yuuji swallows. He rubs the back of his neck like the embarrassment is finally catching up with him, and the bastard has the audacity to smile, then, all awkward laughs and averting eyes and Megumi might strangle him. He’ll have to do it himself; he knows the dogs wouldn’t listen if he asked them to go for his jugular, not the dogs or Nue or any shikigami he could summon because they’re all traitors that listen too close to his own goddamned fucking heart.
“I-“ Yuuji starts again, and clears his throat. Megumi feels his pulse hammering under his skin, his blood a live wire. “It’s just…I’ve never kissed anyone before, is all. And I know it’s kind of stupid but if I ever get the chance to before…well, you know. I want to be good at it in case it ever happens. So I thought…I thought you could show me how.”

"I missed you," he blurts out.
Sasuke blinks, his gaze faltering, the mask of anger falling.
"I didn't," he says, but his voice is flat, unconvincing.
"Liar."
Sasuke’s eyes flash, just a flicker of old fury, the instinctive kind. But then, something eases in his shoulders. His mouth twitches. His voice drops lower.
"Usuratonkatchi."

Naruto’s voice broke through the stillness, warm and bright. Sasuke turned his head slowly.
He was standing just beyond the treeline, arms crossed, hair a mess, grinning like the idiot he was. The sunlight caught in his hair, made it gleam.
Like the sun, Sasuke thought bitterly. Always.
His heart stuttered. Stupid thing.

Sasuke is objectively aware of the fact that coming back to Konoha for Naruto's birthday to surprise him is probably a bad idea. What he doesn't expect is for the idiot to think he's just a hallucination, though.

"You're not really here," Naruto repeats, reaching out. He touches Sasuke's arm, and his eyebrows knit together.
Sasuke lets him, curious to see how far he'll go.
"You're warm," Naruto says, with a hint of surprise in his tone. "Huh. Usually my imagination makes you cold."
Sasuke almost wants to laugh. Almost.
"Not a hallucination," he repeats.
"Yeah, sure."
