Atsushi reaches into his suitcase reluctantly and in the same pocket of his he pulls out a similar box, except where Akutagwa’s box was a blue sort of velvet material, Atsushi’s is red. On it is a little sticky note, with Dazai’s neat handwriting on it. “Have fun on your trip ;3”
Atsushi considers a lot of options then. Pulling his hair out, killing Dazai, killing Akutagawa, killing himself, exploding this whole building, and living the rest of his life on the run, but the option he settles with (truly the most boring one out of the bunch) is to set the ring box down, hold his head in his hands and collapse onto the bed in defeat. The only bed, he realizes.
