Summary
Suguru Geto was taught from the moment he was born to fear God- to listen, obey, and never question. Satoru Gojo was taught to fear nothing at all. So when Satoru moves from New York to live with his grandmother in Parkdale, Arkansas in October of 1958, it’s only natural that he makes waves in their small rural town.
From then on, Suguru is forced to confront everything he thought he knew- about himself, about God, and about the church that raised him.
Despite the mistakes he’s made, despite the sickness and doubt that bloomed in their relationship, Suguru always believed Satoru would stay. That no matter how many times he pushed him away, Satoru would come back.

Gojo let out a loud, exaggerated sigh.“I’ve gotta say, Geto Suguru, I’m very disappointed. Rejecting our deal like it’s nothing... for this?”
He gestured vaguely toward the quiet village behind Geto. “We’re the strongest pack in the region—power, safety, resources. As many omegas as you want, if that’s your thing.”
“Strength means nothing if it’s built on forced submission and destruction.”
So that was the kind of alpha Geto Suguru was. Altruistic words, romantic even. Pathetic. It almost made Gojo feel sick.
And yet, he was fascinated despite himself.Survival of the fittest. That's what Gojo believed. Meeting Geto Suguru, the alpha of a small pack, made him begin to realize strength alone wasn’t enough to survive. Or rather, to truly live.

"Do continue," Getou said quietly, almost absentminded. "A brat from a Gojou clan. Isn't it?"
"How did you—ah," he barely managed to finish.
The second stitch came lower, the needle forcing its way through with a wet, resisting give before the silk followed, dragging tight through the flesh. Blood welled up again only to be pressed back in.
"All of you brats have those white hair," Getou replied through tight lips.
The silk darkened as it passed through him.
"At least give me something to drink you old man," Satoru rasped. His voice broke on the second part of the sentence.
The thread cinched again. A faint pause. Then, almost gently: "My warriors used to bite their tongues off before moaning like a bitch on the cot."
While taking a mission in a distant village Gojou Satoru discovers Getou Suguru a renowned warrior who was declared dead in the clan war.
