The king clears his throat. “Do you know why I summoned you, Witcher?”
“No.” Geralt says so gruffly that Jaskier kicks him under the table. With a withering glare at Jaskier, Geralt adds,
“Why.” It’s not a question. Jaskier wants to kick him under the table again. Just because Geralt’s a Big Bad Witcher, it doesn’t mean he can be rude to the people that can and will have Jaskier’s painfully mortal head chopped off. Geralt gives him a look that says, interfere again and I will chop your head off with my scary swords and scary biceps.
Or: The epic tale of how Geralt and Jaskier fumble their way through saving a royal marriage, a perilous quest, ancient magic, a horde of bloodthirsty demons, and maybe even find happily ever after along the way. Somehow true love always prevails in the end, especially when no one realizes they're in love in the first place.
