Ever since Peter saw Dean Winchester talking about living an apple pie life, he knew something was different. A flutter in his chest, a sinking of his stomach, a breathless feeling. He sat on the edge of his seat, pulling at a string of his sofa, telling his brain to calm down. And then came in Jess, Sam Winchester’s girlfriend in the episode. If anything, it seemed to explode his brain when he saw Dean flirting with Jess.

Look.
Losing someone close to you is rough. Grief is a strange thing, it affects appetite, sleep patterns, mood. May had reassured Peter many times that he was not crazy for feeling crazy. That he simply needed to give himself time.
He also read about the process of grief in a pamphlet Happy gave him.
So, when he gets back from the funeral at the lake house and walks into his bedroom to find Mr. Stark lying on the rug, ankles crossed, twirling his thumbs, and generally looking extremely alive…
…well…

It's been six months to the day.
That horrible, soul-shattering, world-ending day. The day Quentin Beck took a metaphorical machete to his chest and carved out his heart, tucking a devastating promise in the newly vacated hole and sewing it back up.
Tony sighs heavily, the sound breaking on a near-sob. He glances down again, halfway to deliriousness, at the phone in his palm. There's nothing. No notification, no indication that what Beck promised is going to come to fruition. It causes him to grimace, to pull even deeper into the cushion of the couch.
"Nothing?" May asks quietly, chewing the tips of her finger-nails. She glances down at the phone he holds, her eyes red-rimmed and wide, matching his in desperate yearning. "It's been- it's been six months, that's what he said-"
"Yeah," Tony chokes out. "Six fucking months-"
