“Will, are you awake?” Mike's voice crackled like a young kid. He sounded so much smaller than his normal quiet grandiose and bullheaded pride he normally had.
So with just those four words—three if you didn’t count his name— Will’s bitterness flew out the window momentarily.
“Yeah, I’m up,” he whispered back, praying his voice wouldn’t reveal how he had been crying moments ago, “are you okay? Do you need something?”
Mike was silent for a moment. Will’s eyes were well adjusted to the dark of the room, and he could see Mike swallow hard. His eyes were wide too.
Finally, Mike broke the silence.

When Will returns to Hawkins, he is reminded of all that he (thinks) he could never have: A life with Mike Wheeler. But in a town split by fear and Vecna’ gates, there’s more bringing the two of them together than Will would ever expect.

Summary
Eleven witnesses the horrors Vecna puts Will through when he is captured by the Upside Down after trying to make contact with the hive mind.
After saving him, she helps Will understand his own feelings.
Will, Mike, and the group must deal with the loss of Eleven, but they choose to honor her memory by starting over.
With time, Will and Mike grow closer—close enough that Wheeler realizes he doesn’t want Will to be just his best friend.
(If Byler didn’t happen in the show, I’ll make my own happy ending.)

However, maybe Mike finds the answer after they are brought closer than ever after El is abducted by the government and they end up facing capture, interdimensional monsters, torture, the past, their own feelings, and attempting to prevent the apocalypse. (Post-s3, rewriting s4, and predicting s5).

The gang are now all in Hawkins, struggling to pick up the pieces after Vecna won. Some members still feel the divide left by the drama of the fight, and one especially is feeling heartbroken and devestated. Alone and vulnerable, Will begins to be haunted by illusions of Vecna- and it wants Will on his team.
As everyone races to stop it before the gates open and Hawkins is destroyed, Will and Mike will have to finally face themselves and the shattered remains of their relationship.

Suddenly, a voice echoed through the darkness. "I found you, Will," the voice boomed, and Will froze in terror. He knew that voice all too well, it was Vecna. Will's mind raced as he tried to think of a way to escape, but he knew Vecna was too powerful to defeat alone.
"You really thought you could hide?" Vecna continued, his tone menacing. "I know everything about you, Will. And I will keep finding you."
Before Will could react, Vecna appeared before him, his eyes dark and malevolent. With a flick of his wrist, he sent Will flying through the air, his body slamming into the hard ground with a loud thud.

It had been three years since young Will Byers had first gone missing and now, on November 6th, 1986, he had once again vanished without a trace.
