Summary
Bucky Egan and his fellow menace-in-arms Marge Spencer can’t stop staring at the sun-bleached Earthboy working behind the counter of their favourite spacer haunt at Bryant's Station. That’s how trouble always starts on port calls, right?
--
"How does a Motherwell man with no funding make his way to fuckin' Bryant's?" The bartender's golden brows furrow.
"I worked my way here."
"Why?" Marge asks, but Egan is at it again with the incessant need to be on top, practically lying on the red-lacquered counter so he could be face-to-face with the bartender.
"Oh yeah? Doing what, Mister Earth?" The Earth is a sneer, a slur, a reference to all things unnecessary.
"I’m a pilot that can do a bit of navigation. Every ship needs those skills."
Marge and Egan both laugh now, a synchrony one octave apart. Egan, Helm and pilot of the militia ship Three Times Lucky, tasked with protecting the merchant routes against the lurking pirates. Marge, who had sat as the youngest full-fledged Navigator that the trader Grace had seen in generations.
"Right, right," Egan cackles. "Pilot and navigator and researcher? Buck, stop, my panties are soaking wet."

Summary
TJ Walker's life should have finally clicked into full gear. A highly-touted first round draft pick for the National Football League; a draft that lands him on the same team as his college best friend, confidante, and even on some days, mentor - Jason Fairchild, the Tiger's star and franchise quarterback. From now on, TJ's life should be a day's hard work and nights of smooth cruising of glitzy bars, flashing around money, gold and diamonds. But the only gold his tired mind can ever think of, for some fucked up reason, is the way Jason's hair looks under the light of the high summer sun; the only precious stones he ever has time for is the sharp edge of his quarterback's eyes, looking like jade as the silver eyes drink in the stretch of the brilliant green fields. They're co-workers and friends and brothers, and of course TJ's mind circles back to the person who had taken up an outsized importance in his life. That's all it is, right? That's all it had to be.

Summary
What if the P-51 pilots did get that truck — and a few extra white boys to fit into a Kraut uniform?
____He finds Cleven doubled-over beneath a conifer, its bushy branches towering like cumulonimbus clouds, pitch-black in the depth of the night.
“Buck,” he hisses, crouching down to cover the distance between them in a few broad, awkward steps. Up close he can smell the faint smell of diluted stomach acid – vomit of a man with nothing but water and snow melt in his belly. Cleven is on all fours, fingers digging into the twigs and snow – one hand gloved, the other bare.
He makes a noise that is half-grunt, half-moan.
“‘m alright, Alex,” he says.

Summary
Mexico
“That what you’re here for?” Dom asked, surprised at how easy he’d found his way to the question. “Couldn’t find a good mechanic in the states?”
The grin faltered, then slipped, then vanished. Brian looked lost again. He licked his lips. “Wasn’t in the states. I was, uh…” He looked out the garage door, eyes scanning the street. “I was in Colombia.” The way he said it, sort of dreamy, he might as well have said, I was on the moon.
Colombia, 8 months ago
Brian thought, this is it. He’d somehow expected this to go on longer. When this deal first started to take shape, it was nothing but a blowjob with a gun to his head. He’d thought then that it was nothing but buying time, waiting for an opportunity. He’d given up on escaping, but he supposed he never stopped thinking of it in those terms: buying time. Apparently, his credit had run out.
OR: Brian shows up on Dom's doorstep in Mexico three years after he helped him escape arrest in LA. But Brian is coming off an arrangement he can hardly talk about with a dangerous man named Carter Verone.Bookmarked by HardyHazelnut

Summary
“You’re a good story teller, you know.”
Buck can feel the heat of a blush burning against his skin. He shrugs, shoulders brushing his ears. Their bodies bracketed the center of the bed in an identical curvature, breaths perfectly out of sync. Buck inhaling John’s exhale, sighs out oxygen for him.
“So’d those kids invite you back for the next game?”
Buck smiles, and wonders again at the steadfast belief John held that Buck was just as likable and good as himself. “Nah.”
“I would have.” John says softly, “I’d teach you how to catch that baseball Buck.”

Summary
“You’ll manage, Bucky,” Gale says before he can think better of it, and when John looks up at him with eyes wet and glistening, he wishes he could take it back. Maybe not just the cold, then.
“I’ll manage?” He sounds level at least, hot drunk but no different to normal. A little edge, a little rasp.
“Without ‘im. I know it’ll be—But you’ll manage.” John’s answering scoff has a meanness in it, and he does look down again, but thankfully he doesn’t stop walking.
“I’ll manage. Yeah, I’ll manage. I’ll manage without him, because I managed before, that right?”
“That’s right.” Gale’s murmuring again, and you don’t grow up in Wyoming without learning how to soothe a horse, and somehow that’s the voice he’s using right now. Tempted, even, to soothe like he would a horse: hand rubbed broad along John’s flank, cupping his neck like he’d cupped Gale in the pub, rubbing solid and firm. Might quiet those jitters, still jittering even though John’s trudging along with his sight on the ground, trying to sniff away his wet eyes.

In the aftermath of Curtis' death, Bucky struggles to grieve. Gale struggles to help him.
