Summary
Izzy was cornered in the hallway by Edward, who grabbed him by the shoulders.
“What are you getting Stede for his birthday?” Edward said. He asked it with the seriousness and weight as if he’d asked Izzy to give him a kidney. His eyes were a little bit crazed.
“…nothing?” Izzy said. No one got birthday gifts on pirate ships. (Though Izzy should’ve known that the Revenge would be different.)

Pirates didn't eat birthday cake or get birthday presents. Izzy knew this for a fact. Except this was the Revenge, and this was Stede. So now Izzy was scrambling to find a suitable birthday present for Stede just three days before his birthday. Edward would have his head if he failed. Luckily, the crew was there to help (some more willingly than others).
