We were far from Berk.
And that filled me with relief, it had never been my home. Not like it was Snotlout’s, not like it was for the others.
But, as the Edge is cleared of our touch, our memories all packed in small chest for the dragons to carry back- or thrown away amidst the change- I stop to wonder.
Wondering if someday…

Fortuna had a way of eating away at people.
As a native, I never understood the census travelers seemed to agree upon behind our backs.
Was it the islands exposure to all four seasons year round? A place of beginnings and ends that threw wonders off?
Certainly the Order could be too much at times. Such dedication that bled in to the every islands way of life was something only bred from histories long lost in the thick tropics that’s surrounded the city.
But now, I think I understand it.
A storm arrived that left no stone unturned in his quest for power. And there, I got to be witness how Fortuna changes a man.

The TV rattled and groaned- eventually sputtering into a lame buzz that only seemed to highlight the dead screen.
Great. This thing’s never going to work, Shikadai groaned internally.
Despite this, he did not move.
As if- If he looked away, he would lose the imaginary staring contest between him and his opaque reflection.
As if he would miss the words that whispered to him underneath the electronic whirl,
“Shikadai!” His mom’s voice thundered below him.
He pretended he never jumped at the sound.
“I- I’m coming- One sec!” Casting his dark eyes at the screen one last time…
Right…
It didn’t look back.
“What a drag,” He dumbly kicks the forsaken box.
“Shikadai! Get down here!”
The boy sighs, “I’m coming right now!” opening the attic’s wooden hatch on the floor-
‘click-click’
That’s when he halted, staring at the sudden light before him.
The bright scene is introduced by an unfamiliar voice,
“Hey! Asuma-Sensei…”

Jason was sick of people telling him how he felt. ‘You don’t need us anymore,’ Artemis had told him, as if saying it would make it true. As if Jason needed someone to justify keeping them around. But three weeks back in Gotham and all Jason felt was fucking bored and lonely.
It was a relief, then, when some random New Yorker was thrown into his living room through a portal straight out of some LSD daydream.
Finally, something interesting to deal with.
Cue some wild family misunderstandings, criminal conspiracies and cults.
Because there’s always a goddamn cult.
