It had been seven days since Gregor had… done this to him, and the imposter had all but vanished since. No explanations. No follow-up. Just the occasional shadow flickering in the corners of his vision, the telltale twitch of a segmented arm retreating into a vent.
Meursault shifted in his chair, the movement causing a slick warmth to coat his inner thighs. His breath hitched, and he bit the inside of his cheek hard enough to draw blood. This wasn’t him. This wasn’t how he operated. Methodical. Clinical. Detached. That was who he was - who he needed to be. But his body refused to comply.
“Extremely unprofessional,” he muttered under his breath, his voice a low growl of frustration.
