    Summary

The voice of Edward Hyde, like the rest of him, was not quite right; spoken from within a tin can; dull echoes and hollow cold. Utterson balked, unnerved by the way sunken eyes tracked him.
    Deeply, keenly disturbing.
Mouth dry, "You... are Mr. Hyde, I think?"

    Summary

In which the *very* responsible scientist, Graham F. Hurst, concocts an amplified aphrodisiac of his own design, and bids his friend Dr. Arthur Cailbhin to "observe" the effects. All, of course, in the name of science!
    -
On the stoop of his door stood Graham, who had not been seen out and about for the better part of five days. This was slightly unusual, and even if Arthur had yet to seek him out, he was not unhappy to see the chemist alive and well.
He was, however, perplexed. Specifically by the bouquet held between frail hands. They were nice enough, he supposed. Why they were necessary, Arthur could not hope to guess.
"I have come bearing a bribe," said Graham with gaiety. He was, of course, referring to the flowers.
    "Oh...? And what for?"

    Summary

When Raoul agreed to take Christine's place, he had anticapted death. Erik had other plans.
    -
"See? Not so bad, is it?" Erik asked sweetly, tucking a stray wave behind Raoul's ear.
    In a choked voice, "Why...?"
"I do believe I've explained well enough. Ah! But perhaps not explicitly enough. Apologies, I do know you prefer to keep your thoughts simple... Look," and Erik turned Raoul manually, holding the boy close to his chest as he faced them both towards the mirror. "Tonight, you became my bride."

    Summary

Having accepted a physician's position in the outskirts of London, Arthur Cailbhin finds himself at an epicenter of strange cases. When he find what (or who) is responsible for such off occurences, he finds an unexpected sort of friendship.
    -
Arthur looked back to the young chemist, who remained most enthused despite the lull in conversation. Hoping to get back on track, "A man came to me, saying he believed this vial to contain poison," Arthur explained. "And he believed without a shadow of a doubt that you were the one to create it."
Unseriously, "Ah! The gentleman could read, then."
    "Do you often make poisons?"
"Should you need arsenic, I do believe the grocer is in stock."
"Mister Hurst." Hearing the curt stress of his own voice, Arthur paused. He took a measured breath, and reminded himself that the safety of his patients was at stake. "Please. I've dealt with a lot of unusual cases since my arrival. I mean no harm in asking. I only want to know if I've found the cause."

    Summary

Despite Kemp betraying him by revealing his wereabouts, Griffin is still in need of an ally to do his bidding. Whether or not they are a *willing* ally is besides the point.
    -
It was an odd thing, thrashing against hands he couldn't see; pinned by the weight of an invisible force. It seemed that Kemp had already forgotten his pleas to be allowed life, and Griffin had forgotten that he heeded to them. Hands found the doctor's throat and squeezed.
"Fight back all you want," Griffin snarled, voice closer than Kemp anticipated. "You will submit to me, one way or another."

    Summary

Erik and Raoul have left the Opera Populaire! Follow them in this collection of stories recounting their adjusting to newfound domestic life. This *is* a sequel to my other story, "All That Lies Beneath," but can be largely understood even if you haven’t read it.

    -----

The study of their new home was furnished similarly to the one of the opera house, sans peculiar inventions and excessive candelabras. There was the piano, of course, and also the harpsichord. The large rug and a velvet chaise lounge. All the implements were new; Erik had left everything of his old life behind to dust and decay by that cold black lake. Everything, that was, aside from Raoul.
It made Raoul happy— he gazed up at Erik through dense eyelashes— to think of it. That he was the most valuable possession Erik owned.

    Summary

When Vicomte de Chagny attempts to make contact with his childhood friend after her performance at the Opera Populaire, he is intercepted before ever getting the chance. Dragged five layers beneath the earth by a mysterious man of many titles, he is surprised to find that his capture takes a turn towards which he could not have predicted.
    ----------
“You are mad,” Raoul hissed now that he could speak freely, still fighting the hold on his hair. “What do you want of me?”
A sharp smack echoed through the corridor as a swift backhand befell him. Raoul’s cheek stung from the force of it, and he wished only that he had thought to clench his teeth.
“I recall warning you,” the Angel said, eyes betraying the anger his voice hid, “to stay away from Christine.”

    Summary

The Opera Populaire is hosting another masquerade, this time excluding the presence of the Red Death. It's for the best, even if Raoul had to make a deal with Erik to keep it that way.
    ----
The first song had ended and the second one about halfway through its progression when Raoul couldn’t take it anymore. Face blazing an unflattering scarlet— emphasized by the color’s stark contrast with his blue mask— he all but collapsed into Erik’s chest. He panted against the fabric, and hoped his breathlessness might be attributed to his partner’s vegetous choreography and not the tightness in his pants… or the other matter which plagued him still.

    Summary

In a community as small as Pelican town, gossip spread fast— whether you were interested in hearing about it or not.
It was in this way Shane found out about the new farmer moving into town come springtime, apparently kin to the previous owner. Shane hadn’t officially met the old farmer, not that he remembered, but had heard stories from Gus, who sometimes slipped into the habit of getting chatty after Shane had been at the bar an hour too long.

Unlike the rest of the town, though, Shane couldn’t care less about some new person worming their way into Pelican Town. He wasn’t exactly a socialite, and would be surprised to hear if anyone in this town even knew his last name. The only time he ever engaged with the community was during festivals, though it was more due to the urging of his aunt than genuine interest. Still, he stuck to himself, and no one, including him, seemed at all interested in breaking that habit.
He was the town nobody... and maybe found himself believing that was the way he wanted it to be.

    Summary

"Victor," Walton began, voice underlined with pleading, "though our time together was short, is a man who I consider to be a dear friend. I know his story, I know what he experienced of yours, and from that I grasp firmly that the blame does not rest solely on your shoulders. You are not the demon you perceive yourself to be, and as I told you I wish not for further suffering to befall your being. You do not wish to quit my company? Then stay. Aboard my ship, gain the trust of my men, for you have already acquired mine."
