Don't Touch Strange Plants

Summary:

Jake being Jake, touches the plant he touches in the first film, but instead of it shrinking in on itself, it teleports his younger body into the future and his older body into the past, a lil swap, if you will.

I swear to God why are all of my fics time travel ones.

This has so many plot holes :D

Chapter 1: Inverted mushroom

Chapter Text

In Jakes defence, the plant looked cool.

I mean, a glowing plant that looked like an inverted mushroom, who wouldn't touch it?

(Literally anyone else)

But alas, Jake Sully was not anyone else and his high-on-beingabletowalk.. (who said that?) stupidity, apparently told him that touching stuff you have no idea what is, was a good idea.

It was not.

He reached out, fingers brushing the plant, nothing happened for a second.

Then everything happened.

With a loud cracking noise the plant shot outwards, completely enveloped him and tugged him downwards.

There was an odd dizzy sensation as he fought to break free, getting the attention on Grace and Norm (who were doing science stuff nearby).

Attempting to rip his way out of the plant, he tried to reach his gun, only to realise the strap had snapped and it was outside the death trap that was this plant.

He tried to yell, but it came out muffled and weird, the plants walls were thiccc.

Just as he heard someone shout his name, the vertigo sensation intensified and it felt as if he were being warped and twisted.

Then, with a shudder, he felt himself be dragged back and he did the sensible thing; pass out.

He came to slowly, his surroundings bluring together before sharpening into focus. He was in...a woven tent?

Examining the roof, he blinked once, twice and realised he was most definitely not in the forest with Norm and Grace.

Scrambling up he wildly looked around, realising he was sharing this space with 5 other Na'vi, with looking to be varying ages.

He looked down to where he was just laying and realised he was sharing a hammock thing with a women Na'vi.

Did he just sleep with an alien or something.

Looking down at his hands he thanked whatever all powerful being existed on Pandora that they were the same blue ones of his brothers avatar.

Cursing, he reached for his side only to realise that his gun was gone, stupid plant. He looked around wildly, for a second before scrambling outside.

He was on.... a beach?

It looked as though the sun was just rising and it framed the sea beautifly, the water was crystal clear and-

Shaking his head, he snapped out of his marvelling, whipping his head around to further asses at where he was.

Yup, he had no clue.

When he heard a voice behind him say "Ma Jake?", he snapped his head around so fast he got whiplash, stumbling back he looked at the Na'vi up and down, she was looking at him in concern.

That was the one he woke up sharing a hammock with.

She took a step forward and he flinched backwards, his mind was racing though all that norm taught him about Na'vi customs and yet he couldn't seem to think of anything else apart from 'oh shit why am I here'.

"Uh- hi, I- um. Aw shit," he stuttered, tail swishing behind him.

She stepped even closer, the concern turning to utter confusion in the morning light.

"Ma Jake, why do you look so young?", she asked in accented English.

Jake had no clue what on earth she meant, or why he was apparently 'her' Jake.

It hit him at once, he was in an unknown territory, with unknown creatures on a planet he arrived at (or so he thought) a few weeks ago.

There was a pause.

"WHAT THE HELL," he yelled and she hissed at him to be quiet, that they were still guests.

Jakes mind was reeling. So he didnt normally live here- where was he exactly? Why-?
His though proces was cut off by ome of the younger Na'vi exiting the tent with a sleepy 'dad?'

Aw hell no.

Nope, no, absolutely not, this had to be some sort of lesson Grace was teaching him on not touching strange plants.

Or it could be a dream.

The young Na'vi came closer with another, more concerned, 'dad?'

Yup, this was a dream, he wheezed and bent over, laughing like a madman.

The little one stepped back.

The female Na'vi who apparently owned him, was now attempting to rest a hand on his shoulder, telling him that she's going to radio Norm.

At the name Norm he stopped and stood up straight, even if this was a dream, he trusted Norm somewhat. Even if the guys freaky obsession with plants was kinda weird.

Now, more Na'vi were coming out of their respective shelters with varying levels of concern/confusion on their faces. Murmmers could be heard across the... walkway? they were standing on.

Looking down, Jake finally noticed he was standing on what looked like a weaved pathway, connecting the homes, it was a light brown and above the water, which was maybe a meters drop.

Following one of the younger Na'vi, 2 boys came out of the tent, walking towards Jake as if he were a bomb, hands up in a gesture of peace.

The female who he was now pretty sure owned him turned towards the 2 guys and said something frantic in Na'vi.

Damn, he really should've paid more attention when Norm explained the basics of Na'vi language.

Pushing that regret to the back of his mind, he took a breath and settled into a more relaxed stance.

"Hey, uh, I'm jake?", he voice came out slightly horse and he cleared his throat.

The boy took another step forward.

"Uh... dad?"

Oh dear God.
