Chapter Text
Gojo has missed Geto a lot. They've spoken a few times recently, mainly online, but he still wants to see his old friend again. It's probably why he's been even more alert lately, practically scanning everything within a few hundred meters of himself using his Six Eyes. He's on a walk through the city now, a pointless one with no real endpoint. Just hoping he bumps into someone who can take his mind off Geto.
Well. Until he senses a massive amount of cursed energy on the twenty-third story of a nearby high-rise. It's familiar. Very much so. Satoru doesn't even hesitate. He disappears from the street below in a flash, appearing within the room he sensed the cursed energy in. And he sees him. With his own two eyes. "Suguru!” that sickeningly sweet, excited voice calls out. He's sure it's him. His Six Eyes tells him it's Suguru Geto.
Suguru is having a perfectly nice time cooking breakfast for dinner, rice steaming on the stove and his wrist working quickly to beat eggs in a small metal bowl. Soft music plays, and he's wearing an American-style "Kiss the Cook" apron. He's having quite a nice night, he thinks—
And then, abruptly, there's a presence behind Suguru, and a voice speaking his name. He flinches, spinning while wielding the whisk like a weapon.
He sighs and lowers the whisk as soon as he sees who it is. He'd recognized the voice, of course, but he'd reacted instinctively. "Satoru." It's like no time at all has passed. "You're lucky my girls aren't here tonight."
Satoru isn't even bothering to conceal the way he's regarding Suguru with his eyes, bright blue concealed behind those dark-tinted sunglasses of his. He likes the apron. It's cute. Gojo kinda wishes he brought his phone, he'd love to take a picture of Geto like this. Maybe put it as his lock screen.
"A whisk? Gonna do something with that, Suguru~?" Gojo teases, a wide grin forming on his face. He steps closer to the man, so trusting in him and so confident in himself that he doesn't even have his Infinity activated. He truly doesn't believe he needs it. He doesn't believe that Suguru Geto, the collector of curses that he is, would ever lay a hand on him with the intent to hurt him.
So he steps closer, invading Geto's space in that mildly annoying way he always did in their youth. A hand is brought forward, placing itself on the counter behind Suguru. Gojo makes eye contact.
"I know they're not. How do you think I found you?"
His glasses slip down the bridge of his nose, exposing those brilliantly blue eyes.
In the same way that Satoru doesn't fear Suguru, Suguru doesn't fear him. Satoru could kill anyone in an instant if he so wished, and yet he hasn't ever hurt Suguru. So as Satoru steps toward him, Suguru only backs away until his hip bumps the counter, and he stops.
He sets the whisk on the counter behind him, tilting his chin up to meet Satoru's gaze. Those few inches between their heights always feel like more when Satoru is pushing so closely into his personal space.
"You found me because of my girls?" he repeats mildly, meeting Satoru's gaze unflinchingly. As often as he's heard from others that the Six Eyes are unsettling, Suguru hasn't been unnerved by them since their first year in school. "Why are you here?"
Gojo is almost pleased when he notices Geto backing up, running his tongue across one of his sharp canine teeth while grinning down at him. He's clearly amused. Got Suguru boxed in against the counter already, invading his space and getting awfully close to him. His gaze is intense, but that smirk on his face betrays the fact that he's just teasing his dear friend. It cracks even more when Suguru responds to him. Satoru looks puzzled for a moment, then raises his free hand a tiny bit.
"No, I didn't find you because of your girls. I worded that wrong, sorry." He raises his hand more to his face, brushing his hair back and practically facepalming. Gojo lets out a little laugh, though he's immediately back to leaning into Suguru's space afterward. "You have a lot of cursed energy. I can see it from the street! And there's residual cursed energy in the bedrooms, so I assumed they aren't here."
A warmer smile. He pushes his sunglasses back up slightly, then leans in so he can breathe and whisper against Geto's ear.
"So… that means I have you all alone. Right?"
Suguru doesn't speak just yet, leaning away from Satoru as he leans in, but he can't hide the smile that begins to pull at his lips. Amused, too.
"Hmm." He tilts his head, hair brushing over his shoulders as he shifts forward just a little. A sort of invitation, as he accepts Satoru's explanation. "I suppose you do have me alone, Satoru."
Satoru tries to chase after Suguru a little when he leans away, his smirk widening when he notices that little smile on Suguru's lips. Their noses brush together, and he just lets a pleased hum slip past his lips. "Mhm. Got you all to myself, Suguru~?" he says, unable to hide the breathless way he follows the invitation, pushing forward to meet the other man - his oldest friend.
Suguru lets it linger between them, the potential he can almost taste, but then he steps sideways and away from Satoru, snagging the whisk and heading to the sink. "But I'm cooking dinner," he says over his shoulder, "so whatever you have planned has to wait. If this is to be an execution, shouldn't I have my last meal?" A joke, a tease, but not entirely.
Sidestepping Satoru so easily, Suguru had a skill he surely learned from the times they fooled around together in the past. He even taunts Satoru, telling him that he “has to wait.” Satoru doesn't want to, but he obeys. Gojo would do absolutely anything for him, all he'd have to do is ask. "You know I'd never lay a hand on you, Suguru."
A pause, followed by Satoru slowly approaching behind the other man and setting his large hands on his hips. He leans in closer, pressing his chest flush to his black and blowing cool air against his ear.
"... At least in that way. I couldn't avoid having my hands on you in other ways, though. Even if I tried~"
Bold. That's what Satoru has always been. Suguru, respectful and polite and cunningly nice, had never met someone so outrageously confident as Satoru when they first met. It'd been a novelty. And here he is, behaving boldly again without invitation. It's one of the many things Suguru adores about him.
He rinses the whisk under the running water, making sure it's clean before he can return to the bowl. Satoru's touch feels searing on his hips through his robes, and he has to fight a shiver as he feels Satoru's breath brush his ear.
"Mm," he hums absently. Again, he leans into the touch, shifting his weight to press his ass only briefly against Satoru before he's biting his inner cheek to fight back his smile.
"Would you like some tamagoyaki and rice?"
Satoru feels such warmth in him from the closeness with Geto, the sort of thing he hasn't felt in a long time, probably since their last meeting. Having their bodies pushed together is simultaneously so intensely comforting and exciting to the jujutsu sorcerer, who can't help but nose at Suguru's ear and hold him close.
Once he feels Geto pushing his hips back to press his ass against him, Satoru swears he stops breathing for a second. His hands flex, tightening his hold on the other man's waist and holding him close so he can feel that contact for a few more precious seconds. Then it's gone again as Suguru goes back to the bowl on the counter, and Satoru can't help the silent whine that escapes him.
Instead of chasing Suguru, he manages to control himself this time. He flexes his hands, then stuffs them into his pockets and leans against the counter. His eyes are on Geto the whole time, though. Admiring his body, raking his Six Eyes over every intricate detail of him. He's perfect.
"Please. I missed your cooking, Suguru~"
It has been a while, hasn't it? Though it's been years, Suguru can still distinctly recall the last time he made a meal for Satoru. It was only a few weeks before he'd absconded from his life as a sorcerer; tired, and weary, he'd made sweet hard candy and shared it with Satoru. (He'd given it all to Satoru, but the other man didn't need to know that.)
"Of course, Satoru." He returns to whisking the egg mixture, but he adds another few eggs and a splash of mirin and soy sauce. He adds a generous spoonful of sugar because he knows Satoru will like that.
He chances a glance over at him, and his lips quirk as he sees the oh-so-casual lean against the counter. He can't help asking, "How much did you miss it?"
Satoru can't remember the exact last time Suguru made something for him, it blurs into those nostalgic memories that Satoru thinks about when he's at his weakest - the sort of memories that never fail to make him smile and laugh and cry. The things that make him able to push on, with the hope he'll be able to spend more time with Suguru. It paid off, clearly.
He's leaning on the counter for some time longer, calmed by the sight of Geto adding more ingredients to the food and mixing them all together. It's comforting, the distinct scents reaching him and causing him to briefly close his eyes for a moment. It reminds him of old times, so vividly bringing him back to their youth. He swears he sees it all play out before his eyes before he's brought back to the present by Suguru's question.
"A lot. Missed everything you did, missed seeing you try to hide your pretty smile."
Satoru approaches behind Geto again, though this time he chooses to simply lean against the counter a foot or so off to his side. Giving him space. If he gets any closer, he'll want to put his hands on him again.
"Your cooking was always amazing though. Always made me so warm."
Suguru's glance is quick at Satoru, measuring just where he is before he returns to the preparation. He's ever-so-aware of Satoru's presence in a way he never used to be; is it true that distance makes the heart grow fonder?
He laughs quietly at the compliments, disbelieving, and turns away, returning to the stove where a wok is heating. He pours the egg mixture and waits for it to heat before he begins the careful process of rolling the omelet.
"It's good that you liked it, though I'm sure you could do much better." He can't ask how Satoru has been, can he? It's been years, though, in many ways, it feels only like days.
With his Six Eyes technique, it's impossible for Gojo to not know the exact location of the other man at all times, even when not facing him. He's Suguru Geto, possessing such a familiar cursed energy that Gojo swears he could find him in a packed crowd of millions. He's the only person in the world whom he'd care to pay that much attention to, the one whose very mention has him reliving their past experiences.
"Couldn't do better even if I dropped Jujutsu for it, Suguru~" Satoru half-jokes, moving across and now just leaning into the counter to watch Suguru's cooking in detail. He doesn't even bother hiding the way he's slowly slipping an arm around Geto now, unable to restrain himself given the proximity.
".. Have…" Gojo stops himself, his voice trailing off as he catches his lip between his teeth in thought. He continues a moment later, "...you guys been okay?" His characteristic confidence is momentarily flattened. He slightly presses their sides together, trying to show Suguru that he wants to stay close to him. After so long apart, he can't handle any distance.
Suguru's eyes half-close at the warm press of Satoru's arm; it's easy to pretend he doesn't want Satoru, usually, but not like this— not in his home, wearing a dressed-down version of his usual robes and a silly apron and using chopsticks to shape the rolled omelet. Not with Satoru so intimately close to him.
"We've been well," he replies, both hands busy as he moves the skillet and arranges the first omelet. "The girls have been occupied with school, and I've been doing business." Curse user business, but just as Suguru won't ask about Satoru's job as a sorcerer, he won't bring up his job as a cult leader business leader.
"How have you been, Satoru?"
His voice is quiet to match Satoru's, but the way he says the other sorcerer's name is soft, almost worshipful. He's always said it differently than he's named anyone else. They're different together, that's all. Well, Suguru thinks, they used to be. Satoru may trust him superficially now, but Suguru is sure that Satoru doesn't trust him implicitly in the way he used to. It's alright; he's accepted this as much as he's accepted his life as a curse user now.
If Satoru continues to reminisce over their past, he's sure he's going to end up being noticeably emotional. It's hard to avoid it though, especially when he starts to pay attention to things like their outfits. It reminds him of when they were still in high school together, how he'd asked for his uniform to be customized to match Suguru's in many ways. They were inseparable back then, a perfect team. Two special grade jujutsu sorcerers who together could take on the world. It's interesting, really. Their biggest loss was when they became separated.
It led them here though, and Satoru guesses that's okay with him. At least they're both still alive, both able to spend more precious time together. His soul tells him this is good, even when his mind does recall some of the things Geto has done.
"I'm glad, I'm glad," he repeats and ends up resting his hand on Suguru's hip. "I've been good too. Taking care of Itadori, and Fushiguro. Things are good."
There's another strange pause from Gojo for a moment. It's becoming clear that he's trying to decide what to say to Geto, how he can express just how much he missed him, how he spent so long looking just for him.
".. It's more now, though. Now that I've found you. I'm better when I have you here."
Satoru moves, his free hand resting on the back of Suguru's hand in a way that he can still freely move it. Just a gentle touch, while he leans up and noses at the side of his head, whispering quiet praises against it.
"I missed you a lot, Suguru~"
Suguru swallows tightly as Satoru speaks, holding his tongue for long moments until Satoru talks again. Something is intoxicating about Satoru's touch, something that Suguru has never been able to ignore despite his best efforts. Not even now, as an adult, can he control his instinctive interests.
"I miss you, too," he admits, soft and quiet enough that it could be missed in the close space between them. His hand almost shakes, almost, but he controls it as he rolls the omelet and adds more of the egg mixture.
But they can't, can they? They're on opposite sides of a war now; they've chosen their opposing sides.
He doesn't regret what he's done, and he wouldn't take it back, but in this unexpected moment, he aches for what once was and what could have been. His eyes close briefly, and he allows himself to lean into the sorcerer's touch for only a few seconds. He can have this just for a moment. "Satoru... We can't."
Geto misses him too. Satoru doesn't know why it surprises him, but it does. It leaves him thinking for a moment, lingering so very close to the other man that he swears he can sense his heartbeat. Eventually, a smile graces his face once more and he can't help but lower his head to hide his face into Geto's shoulder.
It's then that Suguru leans into his touch too, and Satoru definitely feels his heart skip a beat. He smiles into Geto's robes and moves his other hand upwards. It traces along his arm slowly, only to fall and wrap around his body. He's hugging Suguru from behind, holding him as close as he can.
"We can, Suguru,” Gojo responds simply. His hot breath fans across the back of Geto's neck, and he can feel himself grinning confidently again. His glasses slip down on his face once more, eyes falling shut as he leans in to nuzzle against the back of Suguru's neck. Around his nape, he presses a single kiss. "You said it yourself, once. I'm the strongest in the world. Who's going to stop me from being here with you?"
Suguru's lips part in a soundless exhale as Satoru's lips press against his neck, but he can't respond until he can catch his breath. They can't— no, Satoru can't. Not with the side he's chosen.
He wants to melt into it, wants to forget everything that's happened in the years past, but he can't. Between the two of them, Suguru has always taken the role of the more responsible one, stepping up so Satoru doesn't have to.
He takes it now, reaching back only to press his hand against Satoru's shoulder and gently push him away. "We can't," he reiterates. But oh, he wants to give in to what Satoru is wordlessly offering. He has to resist. "We aren't what we used to be, Satoru. We're adults now, and we both have responsibilities." Swallowing tightly, he removes one rolled omelet from the wok and starts on another.
Satoru is so very comfortable. He feels like he's back where he belongs, hugging Suguru so very close to his body and pressing a gentle kiss to the back of his neck. It's so comforting to him, has him feeling so utterly untouchable that he swears he'd stay here for the rest of his life if he could. He's pushed away far too soon.
He backs off as told, but doesn't leave Suguru's space. His hands rest on the counter on either side of him, hands flexing with a withheld urge to pull him close and kiss him until he forgets all about everything.
"I still want you, Suguru. I have responsibilities and whatever else, yeah. But I'm not the same without you." He tries to reach for Suguru's hand again, his fingertips brushing across the back of his hand. It's an inquisitive touch, for once Satoru is asking for permission before he takes what he wants. "...Need you,” he mumbles after a few moments. Satoru lowers his head down, just hiding it against his back. He's closing his eyes, refusing to look at Geto with his Six Eyes, just feeling the proximity in his soul.
Suguru's heartstrings tug as Satoru pulls away, as he hears the soft voice and the inquisitive touch from his former best friend. It can't be that Satoru trusts him, of course not, not after everything, but Suguru has never been able to deny the strongest sorcerer what he wants. Not before, not now, not ever.
"Satoru..." Suguru's voice is soft, the name almost sighed between his lips. He transfers the chopsticks to his other hand and now that his hand is free, he slips his fingers of that hand between Satoru's. I'm here, he's telling Satoru. His weight shifts back too, just a little, pressing into the warmth of Satoru's body.
That voice… Satoru almost chokes out a sob upon hearing the softness with which Suguru says his name, comforted by the feeling of his fingers slipping between his own. He's wanted this for so long. Needed to be close to Geto and have him within his reach. Now that his desires are realized, Satoru can hardly contain his feelings. His body presses against Suguru's back, and he raises his head once more to simply rest his chin against his shoulder.
"Don't forget your job." Suguru is more careful rolling the second omelet now that he doesn't have both hands free. "I'm a wanted curse user, Satoru. It won't go well if you're seen with me."
"Suguru,” Gojo whispers once again. His voice is soft too, that specific tone that's reserved for the most intimate times they spent together, when Satoru needed Suguru to properly understand the love he had for his best friend. "So…we don't let them see us." His free hand moves as he speaks, finding its way up to gently brush Geto's hair out of his face. It allows Satoru to see him properly while allowing Suguru to see those stark blue eyes gazing back at him. "And if they do… I'll figure out a way around it. No matter what happens, it'd be worth it."
Oh, Satoru. Always so optimistic, ambitious, and confident—for good reason—but Suguru has never been able to reach that height. Insecurities and fears still weigh him down, though they seem so much lighter and for once, surmountable, with Satoru so close to him.
Perhaps... perhaps Satoru isn't wrong. They could keep it away from anyone, keep knowledge of Satoru's visit between the two of them, and it could be alright. No consequences will reach Satoru; he'll be safe. That's all that Suguru wants. It doesn't matter if news of any of his exploits reach the higher-ups of jujutsu society, after all. Everyone knows what Suguru Geto, the infamous curse user, has done. But he can't allow Satoru Gojo, the strongest, his dearest friend, to be equated to his crimes.
"Alright, Satoru." He's conceding, but his voice is hushed, resolute. "But no one can know." No one, not even Shoko, not even Suguru's girls, no one. If anyone knows, other than the two of them, then the risk is far greater.
He removes the second omelet from the skillet and slips his fingers into Satoru's again, squeezing gently. "Promise me. No one will see." It's too late for Suguru to keep himself safe, but he can keep Satoru safe, at least in this.
Gojo knows Geto is considering it before he even responds. Can tell by the momentary silence, since he knows him all too well. It causes a grin to reform on his face once more, showing off those pretty canine teeth of his. Once Suguru verbally agrees, he's practically buzzing with excitement. The hand that was in Suguru's hair drops down, curling the arm around his waist to press them together some more.
"Anything you want, nobody will see me. I can teleport now, remember~?" the Six Eyes user breathes that part into Suguru's neck, letting out a content hum at the squeezing of his hand. He's happy. So comfortable with Geto. So glad they've resolved this in a way to keep them both safe. When Suguru asks for a promise, Satoru barely even thinks about it. He stands up properly, presses a kiss to his cheek, then replies - confidence filling his voice. "I promise, Suguru. It'll just be us, okay?"
His smile is obvious when he noses against Suguru's ear. He wants to kiss him so very badly. Gojo has to wait though. He's still being patient with Suguru, waiting until he's done cooking.
Satoru's agreement eases Suguru's worry, his muddled thoughts beginning to clear out with the promise Satoru makes. At the same time, a hint of doubt that Satoru only wants something physical worms into his mind, but he brushes it away. He doesn't care if this is only for physical relief, because if Satoru wants it, then Suguru wants it, too. He can't have anything further than that, not now after he's made his choice to take the path he has.
"Alright," he repeats, but this is more of a sigh of acknowledgment. His head tilts to accept the cheek kiss, lashes dipping as he leans into the embrace, but he has to pull away after a moment to begin plating the rice and tamagoyaki. It aches, to leave the warmth of Satoru's touch and voice and mouth, but he's sure he can make up for it in due time.
He hands one plate to Satoru once it's done, the scoop of rice and rolled omelet arranged perfectly, and digs into his own plate. He eats quickly but politely, eating with a polite speed still reminiscent of many sorcerers. So much to do, so little time—but on this occasion, he wants to do something quite different, and he's quickly eating his meal in anticipation of that.
Good, this is very good. Perfect, even. Gojo is beyond satisfied with the simple contact between him, happy that they've finally managed to talk about things that've been lingering in his mind for years now. He's glad they have sorted something out now, especially considering it means they can talk about things at length later on. He's not too reluctant to pull away when Suguru wants to this time. Satoru takes a step back, after leaving another parting peck on Suguru's neck. He backs off with his plate of food, leaning on the counter and grinning warmly at Geto.
"It smells delicious,” Gojo hums out at first, then immediately begins to eat after Suguru does. His eagerness has his glasses slipping down to the tip of his nose again, but he does manage to be as polite as possible - or at least as polite as he was in the past. Satoru devours the food in an outstandingly short amount of time, practically moaning by the time he's done. Suguru's cooking is the best.
Suguru politely averts his eyes as Satoru eats, though he warms as Satoru expresses obvious enjoyment of the simple meal. He never realized how much he’d missed feeding Satoru.
Once done, Satoru moves around to rinse off and wash his dish. He has his back to Suguru now and ends up raising a hand to remove his sunglasses and set them aside. It's clear he's thinking, considering what to do next with Suguru. There's a wide smile on his face though, as he's sure whatever his next actions are will work out.
This time, Suguru is the one to follow Satoru. He traces his steps to the sink, placing his own dirtied plate next to the sink, and he leans on the counter. He cooked, after all; he thinks it’s only fair that Satoru washes the dishes. If he doesn’t, of course, that’s fine too. Suguru can do his own dishes later.
He doesn’t trust that smile on Satoru’s face, but in a way that he wouldn’t trust a smiling lion not to eat a deer carcass. It’s only in their nature, isn’t it? Suguru leans against the counter by the sink with his head tilted in casual interest. He tucks a long strand of hair behind his ear, chest warm. His voice is smooth and casual. “Let me know when you’re done.”
The moment he hears the clank of Suguru's plate being placed next to the sink too, Gojo sets his own into the drying rack and picks the dirtied one up to clean it. He scrubs it down with a cloth after washing it with soap, then sets it into the rack too. Once done, he slowly washes his hands.
Satoru turns to Suguru while drying his hands, then picks up his glasses and puts them back on again. "All done,” he says, stepping closer without a single delay and sliding his arms back around the other man, right where they belong. He's grinning down at him like he intends to absolutely devour Suguru, though it's clear that he's just being playful. His hands slip downwards, setting them on Geto's waist as if he's going to wrap his hands the whole way around it. Almost, anyway.
"What do you want to do next, Suguru~"
Gojo breathes his name out softly like he's the only thing on his mind. He steps closer as he did earlier, slotting his hips against Suguru's and gazing down at him. He's struggling so hard not to just lean in and capture his lips in an intense kiss, trying his hardest not to have his way with Suguru and leave him whining his name. A hand slides upwards from his waist slowly. It presses against his abdomen, his chest, and his neck. All the way up to his jaw, where Satoru presses his thumb against his lip.
"Suguru.”
It's been years, but Suguru is still dreadfully affected by Satoru's proximity. He's always aspired to be—and is—a reserved, polite, in-control person, but that all seems to fall away when Satoru is near him. Then again, it's always been that way. In their school years, Satoru was a terrible distraction, and at times it wasn't even his own fault; it was Suguru's, for watching him. Suguru can close himself off to anyone else, but never to Satoru. Worse, he doesn't want to close himself off to Satoru.
He pulls in a careful breath, chin tilted to meet Satoru's gaze and resisting a shiver as Satoru's touch drifts over him. There is no contact until Satoru's hand reaches his face, but it feels still like a burning brand dragging up his body.
When he speaks, his lips brush against Satoru's thumb. One word carries the weight of all their years of memories, and it rolls so beautifully off Suguru's silver tongue. "Satoru..."
