And here he was, America. Luca awaited excitedly to get his luggage so he could finally exit the airport, where his Shu was surely waiting for him, if the recent “outside” message was anything to go off of.
Trying not to bounce off of the walls of the airport, like a little guy from pogostuck, Luca finally spotted his luggage. He made quick work of retrieving his things, finding the exit, and then trying to find Shu’s car.
After trying to recall what the car looked like, Luca saw Shu, leaning against the outside of the car, looking expectantly at him. He bounded over to Shu, letting out a semi-quiet “POG” when he got close enough. Shu’s face had a small, fond smile upon it.
“Eeeyyy, it’s Luca Kaneshiro,” Shu said quietly, as it was still early morning, and he didn’t want to draw attention.
“Hello Shuey Shu,” Luca said fondly.
Together they got Luca’s things into the back of the car, and then themselves in the front and passenger seats.
“Alright, so we could head back to my place and rest for a bit, or we can get some food real quick, all up to you,” Shu started, “I know it’s more like evening your time, so I figured you’d want some options.”
“Whatever works with you Shuey, though I am getting a bit hungry if you’d want to stop somewhere.”
“That’s fine, I needed something to drink anyway,” Shu replied tiredly.
And so, they started their journey towards the place of Shu. Some time has passed and they stopped at a gas station, picking up some food for Luca and simply some water for Shu.
After they made their way back to the car Luca asks,”No food Shu?”
Shu replies ,”No, not much of an appetite in the morning, you know.”
“Ah, makes sense, I almost forgot it’s still early here.”
They start their journey once again, only about half an hour left. Luca quickly digs into his gas station sandwich.
“Hey Luca, will you reach into the center console and grab that bottle for me? Give me two of those pills would you?”
“Are you suppose to be taking these?” Luca asks, fairly concerned.
“Yeah, I’ve had a killer headache for a bit, I think it’s coming to a migraine.”
With that Luca hands Shu the pills. “Are you okay to be driving?”
“Yeah, it’s been worse don’t worry.”
“You know, Shu, that just makes me worry more?”
Shu doesn’t respond, quickly uncapping the water and taking the medication, hoping that it will at least subdue the pain until they’re home, where he can hopefully lay down and rest a bit.
It is then that Luca actually looks at Shu. Admittedly he does look worse for wear, rumpled oversized hoodie that appears to have been haphazardly thrown on, pajama pants, deep eye bags. He was getting a bit worried to be honest.
“Should you be taking those on an empty stomach, we can’t have you getting sick Mr. Chauffeur,” Luca asks, trying to lighten the mood.
“I’ll be fine,” Shu responds, wincing slightly.
“Now that won’t do,” Luca tuts,” Here have a bite of my sandwich.”
“Really I’m fine Luca,” Shu breathes out, seemingly flustered.
He can’t get out any more words before a sandwich is shoved slightly into his mouth. He reluctantly takes a bite, if not only to please his dear Luca. Although they’d been together for some time, being with him in person does not fail to send them both through all of the stages of love and adoration, all over again.
It is not long after their last interaction, that they finally reach their destination. While Shu goes to unlock the door, Luca is getting his luggage. They enter the apartment together. It’s cozy, warm, is Luca initial reaction. Shu leads him to a room.
“I didn’t know how sleeping arrangements were going to go, so I set up this extra room for you,” Shu said shyly, “If all else you can at least put your things in here.”
Luca flushed, but quickly agreed. Shu left him for a minute to get settled. Luca didn’t feel a need to change, having on a comfortable hoodie and sweats. He left the room to go find Shu, quickly finding him in the dining room head in hands. He quickly went over, hugging Shu from behind.
“Hey, why don’t you go lie down?”
“It’s-It’s fine,” Shu stuttered slightly, “I’m fine, really.”
“No you’re not,” Luca said firmly but gently. “You don’t have to be fine just for me you know.”
“But you just got here, I don’t want to ruin your time.”
“I came here for you,” Luca replied back, “We have days and days, this is okay.”
“Okay,” Shu replied dejectedly, albeit a bit flustered from the former statement. “Come lay down with me, please,” he said a bit embarrassed.
“Anything for you.”
Shu led them to his bedroom with Luca supporting him. They made quick work to get situated in bed, tangles together for the first time. Shu’s eyes stung with tears.
“Hey, hey, what’s they matter baby,” Luca panicked, the name slipping out, but going unnoticed by the other.
“I’m sorry i’m like this,” Shu whispered.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Luca comforted.
The room was then silent. Nothing filling the air but quiet sniffles and comforting whispers. As Shu drifted off he let out a quiet, “thank you”.
“I love you too, Shu.”
