Chapter Text
Lumine never knew that there was a beach so close to the Kamisato estate but when her bare feet sank into the cold sand by the shore, she felt herself relax slightly. It was already past evening time as she looked into the sky, the sea for once was calm as it reflected the bright moonlight onto its deep waters.
For once the heavy storms of Inazuma had finally dissipated, revealing the gorgeous scenery.
She thought she knew most of the secluded corners in Inazuma but sometimes she’d find herself stumbling upon new places. Just like tonight.
This beach seemed like it was untouched by the human presence, and she wondered how she never came across it. Perhaps there was a reason for it, but she never dared to admit it out loud as one particular person slipped into her mind.
Water washed the sand away from her feet as she stood there, enjoying the late spring weather. Sakura petals fell all over the beach, painting both the light sand and the dark water.
Her starlight hair twirled in the wind, and for once Lumine found herself being mesmerized, and in a full state of tranquility. Maybe this was the eternity the Shogun had tried so hard to achieve.
Pale sakura petals fell high from the sky, carried all the way to the beach thanks to the light breeze of the night, despite the grand Narukami shrine being way above the ground.
Suddenly, she felt a butterfly touch, so soft she could’ve imagined it. As she swiftly turned around she saw a gorgeous man with pastel blue hair, that almost looked silver in the moonlight. His yukata was loosely tied around his waist, giving her a glimpse of his pale hard chest.
He held a single sakura petal in between two long fingers, before letting the breeze carry it away.
“I found it in your hair.” His voice was deep and smooth as silk, sending a shiver down her spine.
Sometimes Lumine would forget that the Yashiro Commissioner was so elegant, no matter what he did, whether he’d be ordering assassinations or enjoying the hot pot with his sister and Thoma.
“Ayato?” She said, and his name passed through her lips like a prayer.
“I see you are quite fond of this scenery, Lumine.” His icy blue eyes crinkled as he gave her a ghost of a smirk, she noticed the small mole near his mouth.
“It is indeed beautiful.” She agreed, a soft smile tugging at her lips as she looked ahead of her.
“What brings you here?” She asked, though she had a feeling she knew why.
“I’m not allowed to take a walk?” He said with all seriousness but she caught a hint of amusement that lingered in his voice.
“You know what I’m asking.” She said, golden eyes now peering into his frosty ones. “You are too busy for walks, Ayato.” She added a moment later.
“You might know me a little bit too well, Lumine.” A deep chuckle passed his lips, the sound of it making the blonde gulp. “Maybe I just find you a little bit fascinating, and that’s why I’m here.” There was a certain glint in his eyes as he looked down at her, an apparent smirk crossed his handsome features.
Their height difference was suddenly very clear as she looked at him, the sound of crashing waves filling her ears.
“You always talk like that and I don’t know whether I should take you seriously or not.” She said, a soft sigh passing her lips as a rosy hue spread over the tops of her cheekbones.
“Then don’t think about it, and just feel.” He said as he pulled her by the waist at that very moment.
He claimed her lips with his and smirked when she shyly leaned closer to him. Her plump lips parted slightly as he pressed further, deepening the kiss almost immediately, making her moan directly into his mouth as he swallowed her silent cries.
At that moment, she knew what laid beneath the cold ice.
Their meeting felt like a radiant dream.
