“It hurts, Chuuya…”
“I know, Osamu. I know.”
Dazai curled more into Chuuya’s arms, hugging him tight.
“Make the pain go away. Please . I can’t stand it anymore.”
The redheaded man shushed him softly, carding ungloved fingers through slightly tangled waves of chocolate hair. “It’s over. You did your best. Rest now, Osamu.”
“Yeah.” Dazai’s eyes began to close, the gentle touches ever so slowly carrying him to a much-needed slumber. “That sounds nice.”
A peaceful silence enveloped the two lovers.
Chuuya could only gaze fondly at Dazai, whose head had found a home on his lap. He looked cute like this, with his face finally relaxed and rid of the frown lines from earlier, and his hands curled up by his cheek.
If only they could stay like this forever.
“Dazai-san! Chuuya-san! Look! Ryu and I got the new Duo of Darkness Chuuya card!”
Chuuya sighed deeply, suddenly feeling as though his energy was drained before anything even happened.
Ah… Here we go.
The man in the mafioso’s arms jolted upright, head sharply burying into his shoulder, while he pointed an accusing finger at the duo that had burst in.
“Chuuya~!” he whined in a way that would have been pitiful, if it weren’t for the fact that it was Dazai . “They’re bullying me!”
So much for a peaceful afternoon.
Atsushi froze in the doorway, Akutagawa not far behind. “Dazai-san wasn’t able to get the card?”
“No,” the man said miserably, his face travelling down to bury in Chuuya’s chest. “Even though I spent hundreds of dollars, that stupid game was being stingy.”
The white-haired teen choked. “H-Hundreds?”
He looked towards Chuuya for confirmation, and he could only stare at his mentor’s trembling form, mouth agape, when he received an exhausted nod.
Dazai suddenly lifted his head and faced the Shin Soukoku duo with crocodile tears pouring from his eyes. “I’m ready to use the new suicide method I’ve been waiting to use for when I truly want to die, and that time is now .”
Chuuya rolled his eyes. “Stop being dramatic.”
The teary eyes were now focused on him, though there was no point, since he was used to Dazai’s eccentricity by now. He was also immune to being smothered by the brunet’s long, octopus-like limbs.
“You can’t say anything! Chuuya also got the new card!”
And in an attempt to placate the drama queen, Chuuya began to boredly pat his head, unenthusiastically offering words of comfort. That, at least, calmed the man down enough to get him to press his face against his chest again.
Akutagawa, who had been silent until that point, was generous enough to try and comfort his former mentor as well. “Dazai-san, you can always wait for a revival banner.”
The only indication that he had heard him at all was the incessant shaking of his head against Chuuya.
“Really?” Chuuya’s tone was so achingly tired.
Dazai ignored his lover’s obvious plight, and began to mutter his childish complaints once more. “First pull, too. It’s not fair.”
Chuuya wanted to sleep on his day off, and a whiny Dazai was not going to keep him from his rest. He knew there was only one way to salvage his sanity, even if it meant giving up his pride.
He just wanted to take his afternoon nap, damn it!
“If you stop being a whiny brat,” he started , making sure Dazai was listening, “you can have the real Chuuya for free.”
That got his attention, judging by the way his fake crying had stopped and how perfectly still he had become.
Quietly, he asked, “Any way I want?”
“Any way you want.”
There was a new fire in Dazai’s eyes when he looked up at Chuuya, the spoiled brat from before being replaced with the version the redhead knew very intimately between the sheets.
“Atsushi-kun, Akutagawa-kun, please close the door on your way out.” Even his voice had forgone its high-pitched tone that was used exclusively for being annoying. Now it was simply deep and sultry .
Sensing the striking shift in atmosphere, Atsushi flusteredly yelled out a hasty goodbye and quite literally dragged a confused Akutagawa away from the scene. Of course, they didn’t forget to shut the door.
The click of the door was what jump started the rapid unfolding of the following events.
As Dazai tackled Chuuya down onto the futon and began to practically rip the offending clothes that had the audacity to separate him from Chuuya’s beautiful skin, he thought to himself,
Ah, nothing can truly compare to the Nakahara Chuuya in my arms.
