Oh, this is agony. His chest aches. Ash must feel so much worse. How does he bear it? What a horrible thing to happen, to have an identity built on something you have to heal from to survive. To have to discover yourself for the first time at eighteen instead of in elementary school. To do it all without asking for help.
“What else is there for me?” Ash’s voice is hushed, unvoiced, the smallest Eiji has ever heard it. He doesn’t cry, but his shoulders tremble in the amber light that streams in through the window.
