"Yeah," you mumble, blinking slow and looking away in embarrassment. "I— you can touch me. If you want to." It's not quite an answer to what he asked, but it's good enough. It's painfully clear that you're not used to being the one to follow and let someone else take over. Not that Ryland minds, he is a teacher, after all.
"Thank you, because I really do want to."
OR: after weeks of letting you run yourself ragged, Ryland finally puts his foot down and implores that you let him help you blow off some steam.

Once again, Driver is turning to his last resort.
He's been standing outside your apartment door for the past ten minutes. Fist raising every few moments, poised to knock, before falling back down in doubt.
Coming to you when he's in this state means involving you, and he would rather bleed out and die where he stands than ever do that. Unfortunately, however, that may be a real possibility right now.
OR: when he's all out of options, you're the one Driver turns to to help patch him up (and maybe more).

Summary
At the time, Ryland subconsciously hadn't let himself put a name to that gooey, fluttering feeling that had been steadily building when he was around you. But now, after being accosted by the memory of it presenting so unabashedly, it feels so painfully blatant. He loves you. Or did. Or was beginning to, at the very least.
Which feels wrong to say, since if that's the case, that means the person he loves (or loved) is currently in an unrousable state of paralysis, literally over seventy trillion miles from any kind of professional medical help.
He tries to convince himself that won't come around to bite him on the behind.
OR: you wake up on the Hail Mary four months late.

"For if you feel like having some fun! ;)" Reads the slip of paper taped to one side of the bag.
Ryland's immediate thought is that he'd finally found Ilyukhina's stash. Not his style, but the needles that come with it could at least prove useful one day. So he inches the drawstring open and carefully pries the fabric apart to peek inside.
That… is definitely not drugs.
He cinches it closed again with a squeak.
Okay. Well. Somebody snuck a bag of toys onto the Hail Mary.

Ryland then turns his attention back down to your poor, overworked legs. And after a moment of awkward shuffling from foot to foot in front of you, his hands clenching and unclenching beside his thighs — he must ultimately decide that this is a task best performed from a different angle.
You nearly choke on your own sharp inhale when he sinks to his knees before you, widened eyes following his every move.
"What're you-?"
"Can I give you a massage? Please?"OR: you accidentally push yourself a little too hard during a workout, thankfully Ryland is there to ease your aches.
