    It's in autumn of his second year at UA University when Katsuki sees him, the lecture rooms have been changed around and it feels like fate. 

    He stares at the prettiest person he's ever seen walk by. He has freckles and a mess of curly hair and Katsuki has never been so smitten.

    Izuku was 14 when his mother had come home from a date, smelling of alcohol with tears streaming down her face. Mascara leaving inky trails behind.

    She had stumbled into their apartment near midnight, haphazardly taking off her shoes and coat. Her son helping her get to her room without falling over face first.

    Closing her bedroom door behind him, he was stopped by the call of his name in his mothers voice.

    "Yeah, mum?"

    "We aren't made for love, Izuku. Remember that."
