“Vestra’s execution is scheduled to be in five days.”
A physical shock jolts down Ferdinand’s spine at the words, as though he’s been hit with a lightning spell. He straightens his back immediately, the curry comb slipping through loose fingers and hitting the stable floor.
An uncomfortable silence follows. One where the only sound that exists is the pounding of Ferdinand’s heart as it threatens to spill from his throat.
Ferdinand von Aegir must fight through a battle with his head and his heart as he learns that the man he had once loved is going to be executed, leading to the most frantic and eye-opening five days of his life.
