A wave of embarrassment hits Nick and he looks at Aiden again, who is still smiling at him. Except there isn’t anything negative in the smile. Aiden isn’t taunting him, he’s just genuinely smiling. There’s a look in his eyes that Nick hasn’t seen in any of his sister’s other friends before. It’s like Aiden is trying to figure out Nick, like he’s an unsolvable puzzle. It makes Nick’s face flush.
