The scent of cinnamon filled the air as Hollyberry slowly lowered herself into the mulled juice baths. Her sore muscles sighed with relief as she leaned back against the edge of the pool, finally being given respite after the long trek through the forests of Beast-Yeast. The juice was comfortably warm, a welcome change from the cool night air. Hollyberry leaned her head back, looking up at the swaying boughs of the tree in the center of the baths. Purple heart shaped leaves floated sparsely in the juice, the light breeze having shaken them from the branches.

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.

The metal left her neck. Dark Cacao hefted the soul jam sword to the side. One motion. One moment. Then all of the turmoil and suffering he had endured would be finished. Caramel Arrow, Crunchy Chip and all the others that were gone would be returned. The kingdom would be saved. He would be a hero once again.
