Summary
Ivy went impossibly still when he saw it, a color so dark it almost didn't cut through the blackness, but a color that Three wouldn't be able to see.
The bad color. The same color as the Lily of Arcadia. The same color as Those They did not Speak Of.
Two floating gashes of red where a pair of eyes would be, staring directly at him.
Ivy felt his heart stop, cold sweat gathering at his hairline as he watched the rest of its aura slowly fill in. Whatever it was, it was large, much larger than Ivy. And it stood eerily still, like it realized it had been perceived. Surely the creature was hidden by the night, and the dense cover of the Forest. Its aura was the only reason Ivy could make it out, and somehow the creature knew that. And that was more unnerving to Ivy than the close proximity it was to the boundary lines.
How often were there creatures inches away from them and no one in the village was any wiser?
