It's supposed to be some light-hearted competition between friends, where they practice their skills and try to be creative. Yes, of course, sometimes someone gets hurt, and depending on the injury, the group will decide to continue or not. They are not, however, supposed to die. That is not part of the game and never has been.

Dream immediately raised his iron sword and opened his inventory, grasping for the singular enderpearl he had acquired. Not nearly fast enough. George hits Dream’s shoulder, slashing across his bicep. He curses them for gathering full iron gear so fast. The advantage of having four sets of hands. Sapnap’s sword cuts into his side, cutting under his ribs. Dream grunts, gritting his teeth against the pain. He’s not going to win this.
It’s Ant who delivers the final blow, his sword cutting across Dream’s neck, causing blood to gush down over his front. Dream drops his sword to clasp his neck, desperate to stop the bleeding. It’s fruitless when he falls to the ground, vision blackening with blood loss. He dies seconds after he hits the ground. And then he wakes up.or
