He’d snarled and fought, like he always did when Albert revealed a new humiliation, but it hadn't changed the outcome. Summary
Officer Edwards’ face twisted up in a gruesome display of pain in his final choking seconds of death. The same twisting churning black tendrils stretched up through his body and came out of his mouth with a sudden gush of blood and bile that dripped down the length of his uniform. The illumination of the lantern gave this haunting horrific situation a macabre spotlight before the writhing black mass released the limp lifeless body from its clutches. It slumped in a dead weight to the floor at the monster's feet.
The cold rumble of a familiar voice was twisted into a malicious mockery of the man he loved. “If he didn't want to die, then he shouldn't have stood in my way.”
Menacing red eyes turned from the twitching corpse at its feet towards Chris where the soldier was frozen firmly in place. They widened, surprised at first before a cold smile that promised nothing pleasant warped familiar features. His name came out like a deeply satisfied purr. “Christopher? Oh how I've missed you.”
