Summary
Jiang Cheng is familiar with the feelings of being inadequate—not enough, never enough, always needs to be more—but something about the insignificant scrap paper and the bottle of ink and his most used quill, makes him want to try. For himself.
Jiang Cheng begins to scrawl the words that lay on the surface of his heart, words that had settled like dust on unused crockery.
The words and phrases and sentences scribbled on the page in an uncharacteristic scrawl—somehow familiar in the form of flutes and the color red—flow haphazardly across the page. Jiang Cheng feels proud for once.
And so, such becomes his nightly routine; sitting under the glow of the moon, Jiang Cheng opens his designated poetry book and begins writing those utterances of his he dares not relay to anyone beyond his own mind, quill, and paper.
or, Jiang Cheng picks up poetry (because what else is an emotionally-constipated, grief-drenched sect leader supposed to do?) and ends up writing Wei Wuxian a letter.
