Summary
All of Erid waited to greet their saviors. The brave twenty-three Eridians that left to save their planet. Only one emerged. And… something else.
Erid has seen little of Grace and Rocky. The alien is sick. Rocky is the only one who knows how to take care of it. They have clung to each other desperately tight. And Grace is worried. Rocky has not seen Adrian more than a handful of times since they arrived six months ago. Rocky has essentially no social life. They have not left each other’s sides for nearly five years. This is, obviously, a problem.
Grace isn’t as sick. He doesn’t need Rocky to take care of him anymore. And Grace will do what he has to so that Rocky can resume living a normal life with Adrian. So what if Grace absolutely can’t be alone? So what if the thoughts are getting overwhelming? So what if Adrian kind of hates him? This is for Rocky’s sake. He’ll be okay.
But Grace has severely underestimated how much he needs Rocky. How much Rocky needs him.

"Every other week, Rocky made sure to spend some extra time after class slowly organizing papers he graded, just so they could have a few more minutes to talk more privately. Grace would sit on the edge of the sturdy wooden desk and watch him work, as if he wasn't late for his stupidly boring Biology Basics class that took place right after Rocky's.
They chatted about everything, really. The weather, Rocky's partner and their twenty year long loving relationship, the nearby cafeteria's horrible coffee, Rocky's views on monogamy, the slow morning traffic, Adrian's wish for a third, and- Alright, Ryland Grace was admittedly a little slow on social cues, but this was starting to get ridiculous. Still, Rocky was stubborn, and Adrian had the patience of someone who had played these games before."OR:
After a whole semester trying to court an oblivious Ryland Grace, Adrian and Rocky figure the only way to make Grace aware of their intentions is by fucking him stupid.

My face heats instantly and I feel the flush travel down my neck and chest. I shake my head. “No, Rock, I’m not—I’m not spreading my cheeks for you just so you can stare at my, stare at my—” I cut myself off and move to turn back around.
“Grace.” Rocky’s voice has lowered to the near threshold of my capacity to discern it. I feel the word more than I can hear it, the vibrations rocking through me and making me gasp with its intensity. “Show.”
or, alternatively: rocky and grace finally get down and freaky with it-- wherein grace shows hole and rocky has a revelation.
