Neymar shrunk under Leo’s hard gaze, he felt like a child being caught red-handed, he had the overwhelming feeling that he had done something wrong even though logically he knew he hadn’t. Trying to make it better, he covered his top half meekly with crossed arms. Messi then flicked his eyes to meet Ney’s. Oh, Ney should answer his question!
“Yes?” It came out more of a question than an answer and when Messi’s frown deepened and he looked over to Geri and Jordi across the locker room, Ney felt like he answered wrong.

Max's expression doesn't change when Daniel blurts the words at him.
He answers, “Yeah.”
Then he shrugs.
Like Daniel’s entire world doesn’t tilt on its axis with the movement. Like this information was obvious, or innocuous, and shouldn’t completely blow Daniel’s mind the way it does.
“What the fuck? Since when.”
“Since I was sixteen, obviously, Daniel.”
“I would’ve noticed,” he weakly argues. “There is no way I wouldn’t have noticed.”
Save for last week, never had Daniel’s caregiver instinct ever been set off by or around Max. There is just no way Max could’ve regressed around him. He would’ve noticed.
Daniel can’t be a failure at this, too.
“No one notices,” Max replies, “which is good. I am quiet when I regress.”
“What do you mean, quiet?”
“As in, I do not speak, Daniel.”

"color", he simply states, demands, and max feels... relieved? he can't say he hasn't exactly noticed the way lewis' eyes have been scanning his entire body. they usually don't scene after races, especially hectic ones like monza, never have, but lewis is asking, and max feels the comforting hand on his cheek, feels lewis' presence, and allows himself to drift off. lewis needs it, and so does he.
or, alternatively: what max gets when he acts like a brat after the crash.
