Summary
“Look at her,” whispers Lottie. “Really look at her.”
Now that she’s standing so close, the finer details of her face begin to take shape. She’s much older than either of them. Nevertheless, a strange familiarity clings to her eyes, her mouth, her hair. Nat frowns, inadvertently leaning in for a better look. There is a faint scar slashed across her forehead. Exactly like Lottie’s. Nat’s face falls.
“No fucking way."
Or:
After her death, Lottie winds back the clock and returns to the wilderness for one more night with Nat.

Summary
“Natalie,” whispers Lottie, subtle as a secret. The sticky warmth of her palm suffuses Nat’s cheek. “Can you feel it?”
“Make me feel it.” The words are spoken as if by a ventriloquist moving her mouth. It’s not that she doesn’t mean them, more that they have been tucked like a stone beneath her tongue for a very long time, lacking only the will to breathe them into being.
Or:
The frog scientists don't show up, and the banquet takes an entirely different turn.

Summary
Charlotte_M: I find it hard to really know someone through text. Would you be comfortable with a call tonight? Video, I think. I want to see who I'm talking to.
Natalie's standard policy was photographs only until she decided to meet in person, and meeting in person was the endgame, not a preliminary step. A video call was inherently complicated. Her responses were harder to manage in real time. She had to be present. Attentive.
natalieinthecity: I'd love that, Lottie. Call me around seven tonight? <3
After they confirmed the time, Natalie immediately muttered fuck's sake, shut her laptop, and spent at least a half hour on how her hair looked.
Or:
It's 2006 and Natalie Scatorccio makes a living by running online sugar baby scams on older men. When she matches with Lottie Matthews, a former supermodel, wellness brand CEO, and a woman twenty years her senior, suddenly the scam falls apart all around her.
