Summary
Keith was settled on his knees, blood dripping down his arms from yanking at the chains. His face was scratched and stained with bloody tears. His eyes glowed a dull yellow and his pupils were slits.
He looked deranged and teetering into something forbidden and was so beautiful it hurt.
“The quintessence of a Galra-human hybrid,” Keith’s fangs glinted in a bloody smile. “Doesn’t that just make your mouth water?”
When Keith and Lance are captured by a creature that can drain any being of quintessence, both go to extreme lengths to save the other. This is a story of how you can come from feeling everything, only for it to be taken away.

“I believe you mean ’Sir Lance,’” Lance serenely replies, not turning to acknowledge who just walked into his tent. His squire is still fastening his armor, after all; no point hindering her progress just for the charade of civility that neither one of them mean anyway.
“And I believe you should be addressing me as ‘Your Highness,’” comes the retort, rather unexpectedly. Lance usually gets away with his little mockeries. Perhaps today isn’t the day to push things.
Not that that will really stop Lance from trying. He turns his head just enough to spare a cool glance over his shoulder. “Courtesy begets courtesy.”
Prince Keith’s jaw visibly twitches as he grinds his teeth. “Sir Lance.”

The king arranges a tourney. The prize: the prince’s hand in marriage.
Sir Lance has no intention of claiming the grand prize and enters solely to irritate Prince Keith. Things don’t quite go according to plan, though.

(He can never tell what color Lance’s eyes are--they always seem to be shifting and changing in the light, just like the inside of a kaleidoscope.) “Yeah,” He breathes. “Yeah. You just said you wanted to make me a mixtape in a declaration of your love to me. I want to kiss you so hard right now.”

Keith snorts, rolling his eyes at the suggestion. “I don’t have love problems, Lance.”
“I don’t have love problems, Lance.” Lance mocks, making a face as he echoes Keith’s words and uses his hand as a puppet. He yelps when Keith flicks him on the cheek. “Ow, rude, and everyone has love problems, man.”
“I don’t,” Keith says confidently, shrugging with one shoulder when Lance purses his lips at him. “I mean, I don’t see it as a problem, it’s just– it is what it is.”
Keith doesn’t look troubled. Or sad. He looks resigned and tired, as if he had given his all and yet the battle had been lost since the start.

Keith looks between the children and the hat, too confused to glare, sweaty and horrid from pulling weeds beneath the scorching sun. “What?”
“That’s wrong,” Nadia complains, and yanks her brother down to her level to whisper the correction in his ear.
“Ooh,” Silvio amends. “Tía Veronica said you have a pale ass. My Abuela said you’re gonna die.”
OR
When Lance is fatally wounded during their final battle, the blue lion enters a deep hibernation with Lance inside. Unsure when or if he’ll wake, Keith is forced to wait and watch over him in the company of the people he fears most: Lance’s family.

“Shiro,” he said out of the corner of his mouth. “I can’t drink this.”
“Why?” Shiro asked through his smile.
Keith glanced over to where Lance was asking if any of the Xaligas had heard of bendy straws. The aliens, as per usual, were enchanted by him.
“Because,” Keith’s teeth were locked shut to keep from chattering. “It might cause an intergalactic incident.”
Shiro’s eyes widened ever so slightly. “That’s a good reason.”When the gang is served a truth serum by an untrusting group of aliens, Keith is forced to reveal a rather inconvenient secret. This is bothersome, considering half of the galaxy is in love with Lance.

Summary
When Allura tricks the team onto a planet whose atmosphere lulls those who breathe it into being honest and open in an attempt to increase the paladins bond, the team isn't exactly happy. However, since this is the situation they find themselves in they decide to make the most of it. Now, sitting in a room until the effects of the atmosphere wear off they talk about their families on earth, fears, failures, and hopes. Lance tries his best to avoid opening up, but finds his friends and teammates are more accepting of him then he thought. There is just one thing he really wants to keep a secret-that he's pining hopelessly over a certain greasy mullet.
