Summary
“Not fond of psychology then I gather?” Hannibal asks once Jack has disappeared from his periphary.
“Not fond of therapists,” Will Graham stresses. “Very nosy bunch, and a little too fond of me.”
—————
The murder of a young woman calls the BSU to rural Louisiana. Hannibal is a reluctant participant, weary of the uninspired culprit, the heat, and the unrefined backdrop of the town they find themselves in. When he meets the clever game warden Will Graham, he feels the fates pull at the thread of his life. Maybe this trip is worthy of his time after all.

Summary
“You sound pleased,” Will says at last.
“I am,” Hannibal answers smoothly. “You’ve decided to be more direct in seeking what you want. It suits you.”
Will rises from the chair, deliberate, and crosses toward the desk. He wants to unbalance the dynamic, refuses to be just another patient across from Hannibal. That role is long dead. His gaze slides to the waiting glass of wine, dark and full beside Hannibal’s books. “Maybe I just got tired of dancing around you.”
“Yet, you still circle,” Hannibal observes, standing alongside him as if compelled to mirror Will. “Is it wariness, or anticipation?”
“Maybe both,” Will says, his voice quieter now. Hannibal takes a half step closer, a subtle test of the distance between them. “You’ve left me no shortage of reasons for either.”
Hannibal’s mouth curves - not quite a smile, but something close. “Then perhaps you’re beginning to understand the luxury of wanting both. Violence and intimacy are never as far apart as people pretend.”

Summary
“He’s gay?”
Dennis nods. He holds Robby’s eyes.
“Do you have an issue with that?” Robby asks, but there’s no judgement in his tone.
Dennis opens his mouth to say no, of course not, that would be so unbelievably hypocritical, but all that comes out is: “I don’t know.”
Robby runs the alcohol swab over his cheek again. “You don’t know.”
“I… “ Dennis pauses, trying to get a hold of himself. “I think that it’s fine for oth— for people.”Or, Dennis gets punched, and Robby does his best to take care of him. He doesn't do a great job patching him up, but he sure makes him feel better. With some religious themes because how can you not.

Summary
“Just so you know this isn’t a date. This is just post shift drinks between colleagues,” Dennis said, folding his arms on the bar, his opened beer untouched in front of him, sweating condensation.
Dr. Park snorted around the mouth of his own bottle, “We aren't colleagues. You are a student.”
“Then in that case this sounds more reportable by the minute,” Dennis squinted at him.
“Colleagues it is, then,” he said, reaching over to tap his bottle against Dennis’s in a mockery of a toast.

“Where’d you get that from?” Santos asks.
“The food? It’s from Doctor Robby,” Dennis says without thinking. “Oh, wait. I meant- the food’s from Chau’s. We- I got it on the walk home.”
Her eyes narrow.
“Was there a team dinner or something?”
“No,” Dennis mumbles. “It was just us.”
Robby and Whitaker fall into the habit of walking home together after work.

Summary
Hannibal has met Will Graham before. Once among the luscious forests of a remote corner of the world. Once in a city, in the cradle of the Reneissance. Once in the warm, humid nights of New Orleans.
And now, here they are again. In many ways, it is a shame: it never does end well for either of them.
A story told in four parts, over four decades and four encounters.
[Parts One and Two are finished. Taking a break before Part Three - hopefully to come in April!]
