"I'm so sorry."
"It's okay."
Ambrosius frowns at him. Ballister huffs a laugh. "Well, okay, no, it's not, but... I understand. It's how we were trained. I probably would've done the same in your position."
"That doesn't make it better," Ambrosius says desperately.
"No, it doesn't. But you apologized. And it's not the worst of it."
"I didn't trust you."
Ballister looks away. "Yes."
-.-.-
As the chaos quietens down and the other knights start clearing the rubble of the wall from the explosion, Ballister and Ambrosius have a talk.

Hi!
This is my archive of Marauders one-shots.
Instead of having 100+ separate works on my profile that are mostly one-shots, I decided to gather them all into one place to make everything easier to navigate.
Each chapter is a standalone story, and the chapter title will always be the pairing so you can quickly find what you’re looking for. In the chapter summary, you’ll find:
The title of the one-shot
A short summary
The relevant tags and trigger warnings
Please take the tags and warnings seriously—you deserve to know what you’re about to read, so take your time checking them.
There’s no posting schedule. If I write a one-shot and feel like sharing it, I’ll post it. The pairings are completely random and depend entirely on whichever ship I’m currently obsessed with.
Have fun :)

Summary
Regulus Black has a problem: he’s hopelessly in love with James Potter, and James Potter is completely oblivious. So Regulus does what any self-respecting Slytherin would do—he devises a plan. Ignore Potter. Flirt with someone harmless. Weaponise jealousy. Watch the Gryffindor golden boy unravel.
What begins as a calculated attempt to make James chase him quickly spirals into castle-wide chaos: public flirting, escalating grand gestures, feral Quidditch matches, and a rivalry so charged that all of Hogwarts starts placing bets on who will break first.
But Regulus may have underestimated one thing—James Potter doesn’t lose. And when obsession finally collides with confession, the result is loud, dramatic, deeply unhinged, and impossible to ignore.

"That's why I was here. I was going to stand right here, and I was going to try to convince myself to do it, or not to do it, and– and that night, the whole walk up those stairs, I couldn't– I couldn’t think of a single thing. I couldn’t find a reason not to. It was like my mind was empty, and I was thinking that– that if I got up here and my head was still empty, then I'd do it. That's why I came up here. And then you–” James took a long, shuddering breath. “You were in my spot.” He couldn’t help but laugh. It was a terrible sound.
“That’s why you said that,” Regulus breathed, and it was like it was punched out of him. “You… you were… I thought that was a joke.” His voice was thready. James still didn’t have the heart to look up at him. He felt like he wasn’t really there.
“Everyone did,” he shook his head. “It was always a joke.”
