Natasha knew this because whenever he'd pass her in the hall or when he'd hang out at the facility with Steve and Sam, he'd look at her like he'd look at every other person in the room. Her Soldier didn't look at her like that. Her Soldier looked at her with warmth and tenderness, a breath of fresh air in the icy cage that was the Red Room. He didn't remember her and maybe that was her own fault.
