Summary
Fresh off back-to-back national championships at UConn, Azzi Fudd is ready for the next stop in her basketball journey: the WNBA. Expansion team Portland Fire make a splash leading up to the draft, acquiring the rights to the No.1 overall pick and Arike Ogunbowale from the Dallas Wings. Azzi arrives in Portland with no roots in the city, missing her teammates in Storrs and her family. She decides to make her way to Powell's bookstore to procrastinate her unpacking, only to stumble into a media event featuring Portland Thorns' goalkeeper Paige Bueckers.
With the Fire and the Thorns set to share a brand new facility, Azzi and Paige's paths keep crossing. It's clear to everyone that their chemistry is undeniable. “I just…” Liam let out a frustrated huff. “When does it stop being ‘taking away pain’ and start being… you know… a full blown make out session?" he continued, the embarrassment in his voice palpable, making him immediately finish the thought in one panicked rush: “Because I don’t know if I’m just reading too much into something that isn’t really there.”
