Yugi wanted a life of fun and freedom. Of simple pleasures and normalcy. Where he wasn’t always watched and a walk down the street wasn’t a gamble with his life.
He wanted to feel the wind on his face and sand beneath his feet while he walked hand in hand with his love, like in one of those old romcoms. But he was the son of Domino City’s biggest crime lord, and he knew he would never be free.
Atem had a grudge that dominated his life. Nothing could stop him from getting revenge for his parents' deaths. But his single minded focus began to change the night that Yuugi came into his life. He had never met someone so full of contradictions. So fragile Atem feared he would break him, but so strong he put Atem to shame. He lived wild and free while chained and caged and controlled.
Their time together was a blur of lust and emotion that threatened to destroy them both.

Atem's gaze drifted down to Yugi's clenched fingers.
For several painful heartbeats, Yugi stood there and waited for an answer. Any kind of answer that would tell him that Atem cared about him outside of the promise he'd made his grandfather.
When nothing came, his heart continued to shatter into a million pieces.

Summary
Everyone now knows there is evil afoot and war waiting on the horizon, but the identity of their enemy is still a mystery. If that was not enough for riders Atem and Yugi to worry about, they also find themselves navigating royal life and events along with their Guard duties. And on top of all of that, they have growing young dragons to care for, and their own fledgling bond to nurture along with them.
Yugi and Atem find themselves working to solve the many mysteries that seem to be popping up around them at every turn. Who is attacking their kingdom? Why? What does any of this have to do with prophecies and things that happened over a thousand years ago? And just how did two chosen riders end up bonded to each other?
They don't know yet. But they'll do anything to figure it all out while fighting a war that threatens everything they love.
