"Yes!" Buck snapped his fingers. "Like platonic boyfriends! We'd get all the benefits of a relationship and none of the heartbreak."

Summary
Story takes place in Kaidan's point of view in the weeks following the Battle on the Citadel. He and Shepard embark on another journey on the Normandy. Up until the Collector attack and Shepard's untimely death. Kaidan has to go through the stages of grief and learn to accept that Shepard is dead in order to move on with his life. Memories of Shepard haunt his dreams. But what happens when his dreams become reality and Shepard is alive again? When he see's her again for the first time after 2 Years, 8 weeks, and 4 days.

With Kaidan back on the ship, James realizes that all preconceptions he had about the Major were far from what kind of person he really is. He once only knew Shepard's name as a legend; she was the woman from the Alliance recruitment vids, the hero of the Citadel and bonafide badass.. yet she was a much different person than who the media portrayed her to be. It's hard to know somebody from just their military record and whatever could be scraped up from the extranet. James wants to get to know the Major a little better.
