“Porn? I can throw a rock in this neighborhood and I’m gonna break the window of a porn store.”
March gestured anxiously, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Healy paused. “Ohhhhh. The nasty stuff. Whips and handcuffs. Girls and animals.”
“Close,” March said, grimacing. He really, really didn’t want to have to explain this. “Think more like…. Disco.”
“Disco?” Healy raised an eyebrow. “What, like the queer music? You think the back room of that store is full of porn for… For disco fans.” He nodded thoughtfully a couple of times. “And you’re an expert about this?”
For a second the whole world went white around the edges and March thought he might pass out. He was too sober for this conversation. What exactly had Healy noticed that morning, how obvious exactly had his full-body reaction to Healy’s hand on his neck been? “I was a happily married man!” March said, and as soon as it came out of his mouth he knew it was wrong. Too fast, too high-pitched, too loud.

Summary
The year is 2049. It has been twenty-seven years since the launch of the Hail Mary. It has been a year since the arrival of the Beetle probes and restoration of the sun, with the Hail Mary itself expected to arrive soon.
It has been a year and four months since the launch of the Jupiter Orbital Initiative (JOI) VII, a mission designed to collect data about the potential resources held by Jupiter and its moons. Where once it was another desperate gamble by humanity to find something that might help them survive as the sun dimmed, its purpose has since changed shape; now, it is simply another endeavor of science, and a way by which the Hail Mary may safely return home.
However, unlike previous missions in JOI program, the JOI VII is a manned research station.

Despite his initial reservations, Grace is excited to be returning to Earth, and even more so to introduce it to Rocky; it really seems like Earth is ready to welcome the Hail Mary with open arms- heck, they were even given a pit stop in the form of the JOI VII! But why does the JOI VII commander look exactly like him? And why is he so cagey about his past? -
