Summary
One of a few survivors of a ferry that sank in the Atlantic. Catra is alone, Orphaned, and deathly afraid of water. After already having gone through a few traumatic years of loss, bullying and self-isolation, Catra finds herself in her first year of university, content with keeping her head down and getting on with her work. At least that was the plan.
After being forced into a group work project Catra discovers a group intent on befriending her, who accidently dig up the repressed feelings of loss and loneliness. Catra must once again battle with the ghosts of her past, fight her fears, navigate the long-forgotten waters of friendship, and struggle to accept the hardest concept of all: She is not alone.

Then, embarrassingly, her mismatched eyes met with the blue of Adora's, she felt her whole body grow hot, and her face blossom with red. How long had she been staring at Adora? Or more importantly, how long had Adora noticed for and not said anything? She wanted to dig her own grave in that moment, crawl into it and hide forever. Yet at the same time, she wanted to stare at those eyes for as long as she could.

Catra finds out that Adora is going to be moving into in her math class this term, and all they do is flirt. Obliviously.

It’d started out as an innocent joke, Catra swears it.
She doesn’t know why she kept pushing Adora, kept egging her on, kept pushing the buttons that she knows she shouldn’t. Maybe some habits die hard, and this was a cruel example. Her self-destructive behaviour wasn’t going away over night, and that was something that Adora often forgot. Or, the more likely answer, was that she just wanted Adora’s attention.
Either way, something inside was gnawing at her, begging her to lure the blonde into a fight. And suddenly, much to Catra’s delight and horror, Adora took the bait.

She’s thinking that she’s starting to have this whole adulting thing down, but then when she meets Honeymaren, she wonders what the hell she was doing before.
Alternately: Elsa has to realize that self-care is about more than bath bombs and seeing a therapist twice a month. Not that romance is the end-all, be-all of humanity, but sometimes someone else coming into your life and loving you will thaw even the thickest walls
