Jayce allows himself to be beckoned in so easily, as if his body was a lonely ship lost at sea for a lifetime, finally being guided back home by the brilliant gleam of a lighthouse off in the distance breaking through the eternal fog. Viktor’s tongue wrapping around his fingers feels like warm, saltwater waves lapping against his skin.
Under Jayce’s touch, Viktor comes alive and his skin glows like the reflection of the moonlight off the midnight water. Jayce swears there’s a magic brewing beneath Viktor’s skin, an energy so strong it could create galaxies and control the swell of the tides. Jayce allows himself to be swept up in the current every time.

Summary
An experiment gone wrong causes a lab to blow up, to not lose his job as a researcher at the University of Piltover, Viktor is forced to be a teacher as a disciplinary action. His former partner and now rival, Jayce, is constantly on his tail because of the accident as they argue about the ethics of each other's work. It takes their involvement with the young couple of inventors, Ekko and Jinx, for them to realize that their fight was meaningless.
tldr: Jayce and Viktor are "divorced" academics and make it everyone's problem, it takes them seeing their younger selves in Jinx and Ekko to realize they are actually in love with each other.

“Is there something on my face?” Jayce broke.
“You look nervous.” Viktor remarked, lip twitching in half-a-smile.
“Maybe.” Jayce laughed. “I’ve never been here before. I mean, obviously, just… why’d you pick this one, out of curiosity?” Viktor took a beat to formulate his response.
“It’s my favorite.” Jayce felt perhaps too giddy at this reveal of information. He really was being shown something in Viktor’s world, even something as impersonal as a favored public space. Anyone could come here, it wasn’t a secret, but it was something he didn’t know of before. Something private in that way. And now Jayce felt fractionally less of a stranger. Closer to him by increments.
