“You said it was benign.”
Deborah doesn’t expect what she sees when she finally works up the courage to lift her head. Incongruent; Ava looks furious, arms crossed, foot jiggling, eyebrows furrowed. Deborah feels swimmingly out of context, because Ava’s jaw is set like she’s about to throw a punch.
After the weekend in Montecito, Deborah needs to return to LA for a repeat surgery on the mass. Ava insists on being there with her through all of it. Some conversations continue, and some kisses are revisited.

Summary
S02E08: In between filming the special and releasing it on DVD via QVC, Deborah Vance gives her entourage two weeks off. She sends Ava Daniels back home to Waltham to help her mother clear up her father's things after his death earlier in the year. She thinks it will quieten the thoughts she has been having, but the opposite happens. So, Deborah follows Ava to Massachusetts with the hope of finding the answer to the question she hardly dares to ask herself.

She turns her phone off, then. The last thing she needs is Ava tracking her location and finding out exactly how far Deborah is willing to go to keep her."
