Summary
There were two things that Harry Potter knew with perfect certainty: 1. Voldemort was a psychotic twat and 2. Hermione Granger would never abandon him.
The second wizarding war wasn't the simple conflict found in children's storybooks. It was blood and ruin and loss, and it was the breaking of the world they knew.
Through it all, Harry and Hermione kept choosing each other, again and again, even as their lives fell apart around them.
Because sometimes, love is the only thing left standing amidst the wreckage.Bookmarked by Readstories20011

Summary
Ava drifts, flitting from one formless place to another, catching glimpses of vaguely familiar faces, hearing things she has heard before—please don’t leave me, I don’t want you to die.
Beatrice so rarely asks her for anything, and Ava hates that she couldn’t even give her this one thing. The least she can do is go back.
Preferably alive.

Summary
Reya folded her hands in front of her, “What are you missing, really? What from your world could be worth disrupting this tranquillity for?”
And for the first time since arriving in this prison, Ava smiled.
Because the question - the two questions, which proved she was disrupting Reya - provoked only one genuine thought.
Bea.
“Love.” Ava said softly; she could feel an ache in her cheeks, muscles stretching to make a smile she hadn’t in a long time.
or,
“Convince me that your world, and its disruptive love, is worth returning to and I shall let you go with the halo.” Reya announced, chin raised in challenge.

Summary
“Trust Beatrice,” Mary had said.
That rings in the back of Ava’s head when she lies to Beatrice’s face, says "I’m fine," says "I know what I have to do," tells her nothing of what exactly that’ll be.
Warrior Nuns don't survive, Ava knows that much, and even if that's going to be her own fate, too, she’s not going to put that weight on Beatrice’s shoulders. The night after she c'ommunes with Reya and finally understands, she lies and says "Everything’s okay. This is where the Ark is." The next day she lies and says "He split off to find the Ark. Everything's okay." She lies and lies her way to victory, until Beatrice (and Yasmine by proxy) is led safely away from where the real battle will begin.
One of the last things Mary had said to her was, “Trust Beatrice,” but Ava thinks Mary would understand this particular deception.
--
Or:
Through Switzerland and through the portal and through whatever comes after, Ava learns Beatrice. Learns to love her, to trust her, to live with her.
Learns from her, too.
