Summary
The war spiraled out of control. Fists gave way to science, leading to viruses spreading beyond intent, containment, and any cures. Alone in his dead universe, Mark lived out his days in increasing ferality until a freak lightning storm teleported him back in time - to a Viltrum in the midst of its purge.
"Grand Regent," Kregg began, a rare note of uncertainty in his voice. "There is a... situation."
"Report," Thragg ordered.
"A rogue element has emerged on the planet. It's defying your will."
"How so?" the Grand Regent asked.
"It's protecting the wounded," Kregg said, "and has taken several children and a youth captive." -

A few Viltrumites looked towards one another, uncertain. Had the Grand Regent gone mad?
“I will take part in negotiations with your Coalition, and aside from that, you will not hear from me and my people again.”
“What’s the catch, Thragg. “
“Your son, the half human one, shows great promise.” He shot a sideways glance at Mark. It made him feel like he was being pinned to the ground.
“For all my benevolence, I demand your omegan son as my mate.”
Thragg looked back to Nolan, who’d become as pale as a sheet.
“I will give you time to think about my gracious offer. If the answer is negative, I shall end you all today and then move on to Earth."
In a blink, he was once again far from the group. All Viltrumites started retreating back to their planet with a shake of Thragg’s head.
“You have until Viltrum's sun sets. Do not be tardy. “

Summary
Unable to hold himself back from wanting to inflicting violence on others, Mark worries he's changing and not for the better. Colour him surprised when these changes turn out to be a part of being a Viltrumite his father failed to inform him of.
Or: Mark is presenting as an Omega. Thragg takes it upon himself to do what every other Viltrumite before him has failed to do - make Mark join the Empire.
