Summary
Prompt: Alpha Jungkook and Omega Jimin had been best friends since childhood. Everyone in their pack believed they would one day become mates, but neither of them had ever truly considered it.
Jungkook, however, had developed feelings for Jimin over time. He didn’t know exactly when his affection turned romantic, but he always assumed Jimin would feel the same. However, when the time came for Jungkook to ascend as the pack’s Alpha and their mating was arranged, Jimin refused, saying he had never seen Jungkook as a mate.
Jungkook was shattered, but there was nothing he could do. To become Alpha, having a mate was essential. Accepting his fate, he finally started courting an Omega who was interested in him—someone his parents also approved of. That was when everything shifted for Jimin.
He couldn't understand why he couldn't stand seeing Jungkook with another Omega or why the mere thought of it made him burn with jealousy. By the time he realized the truth of his own feelings, it was already too late.

Taking the heart, the child excitedly inspected it, nodding in glee. “Yes! My mama told me that when someone leaves the hospital to go to heaven, we all fold a paper heart for them! Like this, like this!”
“That’s right,” chuckled Soobin. “But do you know how it started? It started here, in this room. From a boy who used to fold a paper heart every day for his lost love, hoping each one he makes will take him closer to the day those eyes would open again.”

In other words, a hopeless love story of two childhood best friends who didn't realise what it meant to have each other until it was too late; compiled of yearning, loss, forlorn hope, unrequited love, and every tragedy in between.

“It’s so unfair,” Jimin continues to rant, frowning at the Nutella on his toast. “You stupid alphas get your rut only four to six times a year while we omegas have to go through heat each month. EACH month. Do you know how horrible that is? And it only gets less after we find a mate, which is so bothersome to do when you are busy with uni and work. But maybe that’s what I should do.” Jimin gets up to get the jam from the cabinet as he rants on. “I’m about to be twenty-four soon. I want a mate anyway. Maybe I should accept Minjae’s offer for a date. He’s cute anyway. I’ll get less heats and have someone to help me through them and we can cuddle each- Wouw.”
Jimin stops his rant in the middle of the sentence when he turns around with the jam in his hand and finds Jungkook standing right in front of him. Jungkook scowls at him for a second, takes the jam out of his hand and places it at the counter. Jimin lets him, too stunned by his sudden appearance and the notable change in his scent. Jungkook gathers Jimin in his arms then, leaning down and pressing his nose right on Jimin’s scent gland. Jimin’s breath stutters, eyes fluttering shut, and he gives in without a second thought.
