Summary
Lance likes it when Keith makes his desire known. He likes any yearnings in the room verbally acknowledged. Whenever Keith grabs his hand, or before Lance offers his own, he likes to ask: Do you want to hold my hand? So that Keith is forced to confront his impulses and transform them into orchestrated acts. And Lance likes to wait for Keith to say yes, and even when this is all he says, the addition of please inevitably becomes legible to both of them through context.
Lance sneaks away from Voltron to interfere with a Blade of Marmora mission. As a result, Keith must confront his desires, his shortcomings, and, worst of all, his sense of self.

Summary
Before Lance can complete his disappearing act, both heads whip in his direction. In a moment of total stillness that consumes the hallway, Shiro's fist still in Keith's hair, Lance opens his mouth and says, meow.

Summary
On a mid-day wash-out of a summer afternoon, Lance answers the knocking on the door. Three things follow: he receives a visit from an old acquaintance; his past intrudes upon his present, kicking and screaming; and the universe tells him he needs to figure out what to do with himself.

Summary
“I don’t want you dead.” Keith says, softening some, his eyes resting momentarily on a fleck of dried blood on Lance’s temple. He doesn’t say it, but he’s fairly certain Lance makes out that what Keith really means is, I’d have given up that whole outpost just to keep you in one piece. He adds, “you saved a lot of lives.”
“Speak for yourself,” Lance replies, meeting Keith’s eyes at last, with that same, raw, weighted gaze, his eyes languid pools of blue.
And Keith finally discerns this new expression—it’s yearning. Uselessly, without conviction, Keith says, "I don't think I forgive you."
Yearning, Keith thinks, longing. Something.
Lance exhales, heavy and slow, and pulls Keith in a little closer.
...
After nearly a decade spent in the tumult of vacuous space, Keith and Lance find themselves trying to navigate the newly reciprocated, spindly feeling between them, with the added challenge of trying to disentangle the ways that circumstance and time have altered them--have altered Lance, into a jaded whisper of his old self.

Summary
“Then come see me,” Lance murmurs, and it makes Keith’s heart pound behind his breastbone. “Us, I mean. Once a week or something? Like mental health check-ins. We can just hang out, or...or go on low-priority, low-stress missions? Scouting, or flower-picking for Coran, or supply runs. Dumb stuff. Just...so we know how you are. I don’t want...I mean, we all miss you. And I don’t want to sound presumptuous, but...it feels like you’re not...not okay, Keith.”
Well, Keith thinks, a little weakly. He never really stood a chance, did he?
“Okay,” he says, right away. No fight. No refusal.
His life is a hell of a lot easier when he lets himself cave under all the ways he wants Lance's luminous attention, and company, and friendship. All the ways he wants Lance, full stop.

Summary
“My Abuela said it,” Silvio insists. “She said you have to wear the hat, because you have a pale ass so you’re going to get skin cancer and die before Lance even wakes up.”
Keith looks between the children and the hat, too confused to glare, sweaty and horrid from pulling weeds beneath the scorching sun. “What?”
“That’s wrong,” Nadia complains, and yanks her brother down to her level to whisper the correction in his ear.
“Ooh,” Silvio amends. “Tía Veronica said you have a pale ass. My Abuela said you’re gonna die.”

When Lance is fatally wounded during their final battle, the blue lion enters a deep hibernation with Lance inside. Unsure when or if he’ll wake, Keith is forced to wait and watch over him in the company of the people he fears most: Lance’s family.
