Her 'yes' comes out weak, and it costs her more air than she wanted to give up on. His thumb strokes up and down the side of her neck, never giving up the pressure. She admires the control he has over his body. How well he knows when it’s enough before hurting her. Roman would have been like that, with the right encouragement. If she had opened the door instead of slamming it shut in his face, perhaps he wouldn’t have been inclined to figure out how much he could hurt her before she bled.

She expected being assigned tasks that kept them as far as possible, but found herself paired with him more often than usual. He made sure to make eye contact with her, even though she’d pictured him avoiding her gaze. It was almost infuriating to see him unbothered by her presence, but Emily was a patient woman.
After Hotch catches her in her underwear, Emily can't stop thinking about him. She doesn't have a plan, but her improvising pays off.
