Summary
Every year, for twelve days covering Christmas and New Year, Tally Craven and her friends have a tradition of going to the Bellweather lodge to celebrate the festive season. This year, Petra Bellweather has invited her business partner and friend, Nicte Batan to join them with her partner.
Sarah Alder thinks that she might regret her entire friendship with Nicte after agreeing to be her fake girlfriend for a trip to the forest-covered mountains over the festive period. That is until she meets Tally Craven, a veritable ball of sunshine, and begins to regret being in a fake relationship for a whole other reason.

With their words Tally and Alder hurt each other. After finding their way back to each other, they vow to do better. In the ensuing months they unknowingly develop a new common language based on gifts and gestures which allows them to properly see each other for the first time.
or: how Sarah Alder didn’t realise she was unknowingly courting Tally Craven for months, despite being almost supernaturally good at gifts, but with this Yule gift Tally aims to reply her, nevertheless.

Summary
“Quite some time? So, we’ve met before?” Tally whispered hesitantly, unsure she wanted the answer at the look of familiarity on the General’s face.
“Yes.” There’s a fond smile of recollection on the older woman’s face as she answers the redhead. The deep blue of the General’s aura almost sparkles with it.
“When?” The question squeaks out of terrified lips.
“The first time?” The older woman asks for clarification. Tally can only nod as she feels as though she’s just swallowed a hot coal. The General looks to the ceiling squinting, as if recalling a memory.
“It was 1679 in Eastern Europe, I was four.” General Alder tells her and Tally promptly chokes on her own saliva.
