    Starts post NFA in 2004 and loops back to 1997 and a very AU Season 2. Having fallen into a deep depression following the destruction of her entire world, Buffy attempts to take her own life. In a desperate measure to save her, she is sent into the past. Only she doesn't go back entirely alone. Faced with becoming a ghost in her own past can Buffy figure out how to live again? And what's with that echo that traveled with her?

    Starts out dark but doesn't stay that way.

    This story is only archived at EF and AO3.

    Trigger Warning: Self-harm and Suicide are heavy themes in this story.

    Soulmates - AU

    Soulmates, platonic and romantic alike, can feel each others pleasure and pain. Having witnessed Elijah kill his soulmate, Klaus spends a thousand years glad to be free of the shackles of such a precarious bond.

    Until the early 90s, when Klaus starts experiencing the most peculiar aches.
    'A soulmate,' his witch smiles. 'I never got to meet mine'. Klaus snaps her neck.

    He spends seventeen years hiding from his soulmate, unwilling to complete the bond.
    Until they meet on the night of the sacrifice, and Klaus accidentally - intentionally - kills her.

    The problem (the solution) is that Elena Gilbert comes back.
