I don't know what the deal is with the "vash-has-feathers" thing, whether that's a manga thing or just a fandom trope, and this clearly mixes elements of 1998 Trigun with Tristamp, (so not fully canon compatible with anything) nevertheless, a very moving character study that unequivocally adds something to the canon

Summary
They always come and get him, no matter how tired he is, no matter how long it takes to rouse him. He understands, and never begrudges them for it. The Plants are important, and Vash is an important part of fixing them.
But sometimes, treacherously, he wishes they would try to handle the problem on their own, that they would let him sleep.

When you see "Chell/Wheatley", just trust me on this one and forget you saw that. It takes a while for it to make sense. A long journey but worth it. For anyone who loved Wheatley as a character and wanted him to get a better ending, this is the fic for you. Same for anyone who wants to see Chell acclimate to human society. The fic kind of builds its own world and it is very compelling.
