Summary
Basically, the end of the world happens and everything is made new. Surprise! Some souls got recycled and they wind up all living in the same town. Sauron owns a diner, Glorfindel is the high school principal, and Bilbo teaches English.
(My best friend and I came up with a Prompt Challenge. She sends me a word or phrase and I have to write for it. We've all heard that story before, I'm sure.

Summary
This wasn't the first time Torbek's captors had worn the face of his friends in the last… week? Two? Four? Time had been hard to gauge here in the cold and the damp. Meals at random intervals and very inconsistent sleep and exhaustion make for a wonky internal clock, and the metal rings chafing his wrists were chaining his hands up so he couldn't even scratch into the floor to mark anything anyway. He wondered what torment the cultists have planned for him now, what fresh hell they’ll unleash on his starved and injured body.

“I told you to stay with me, Mylo,” Jace pushed past Varus. Jace grabbed Mylo by his skinny shoulders—not so skinny now as they had been that first fateful day in their dorm, but skinny all the same. “What the hell were you thinking, running to the back like that? We were on a mission, I gave you an order!”
Around the four of them, workers bustled around their mechs. Renn could see the fleet of engineers crossing the hanger floor towards the steaming mechs, already prepared to crack them open and repair the damage that had been done. Renn caught Jace’s shoulder but didn’t dare yank him back, not in clear view of the crowd.
“Calm yourself,” he murmured, “we are not alone here, Jace. Unless you wish to punish Mylo publicly—”
“What the fuck?” Jace’s burning anger refocused on Renn.
“—this will have to be a private conversation. Preferably in our own rooms.”
