Based on me hearing something in the anime about how the scarlet eyes were preserved for their bright colour. I assumed there was some kind of preservative in the fluid that prevented them from fading. I realise now that I was wrong, but I thought the idea of Kurapika restoring the eyes to their natural state was interesting, so I wrote this.
